I ran the Netflix updater and it downloaded about 31,000 titles. Is that what you are talking about?

I really think I may not have the files, programs, dbases etc in the correct folders. Please let me know the file tree orgination as which progs, files, dbases etc should be in which folder.

I guess before I go to anymore effort I should ask if the movie record to hard drive function (PVR fuction) works with Netflix. If not I'm just wasting my time because that's my objective is to be able to record those movies. I already can view them with Boxee software on my pc and my Roku box on my TV. So If all I can do is watch then that would be redundant with what I already have.

No, you can't record the movies any more. That used to be possible with the old Netflix plugin for GB-PVR, but only before Netflix switched to Silverlight. All new Netflix accounts in the last 2+ years have automatically been on Silverlight, and I think by now they've forced all legacy accounts over to Silverlight too.

Honestly, until Whurlston releases an updated version, it may be very difficult to get this plugin working; even he admitted he doesn't know which updates in which posts are required to make it work any more. I'm not at all sure I could get it to work from scratch today. It does seem like he's lost interest in the project, which is his right to do.

The working options for Netflix these days are mvallevand's Universe plugin combined with a PlayON subscription, or dhgb256's External Netflix Viewer. One of these days I'll implement one or the other on my system.

Thanks Johnsonx42. I'll just stick with the Boxee for viewing Netflix and Debut Video Capture Software for recording Netflix. Debut works but it is a little funky to use. You have to get it started before you start viewing and make sure you put the cursor off screen or you get a 1/4 inch blue dot where you cursor is in your recordings. Thanks again.

The working options for Netflix these days are mvallevand's Universe plugin combined with a PlayON subscription, or dhgb256's External Netflix Viewer. One of these days I'll implement one or the other on my system.

I'm attaching the files needed including the patches from post 42,95,and 153. This will get you up and running with the plugin. All the patched files have been included so all that needs to happens is to copy the files to the appropriate locations and run the updater.

The only issue that I'm aware of now is that switching genres only works the first time you launch NPVR and then there is an error and you can only stay on your last viewed list. Once you close NPVR and reopen it, the genre list will work again one time until you exit the plugin, ect..

p.s. if you read this whurlston, I'm looking forward to the updated version. whenever that may come.

Any news on the next release?

I've reloaded this because dhgb256's External Netflix Viewer stopped showing episodes lists and at least for me doesn't seem to resume prviously viewed shows if you close them early. I'm still getting shows listed but the box art portion doesn't seem to be successfull as none of the boxart gets downloaded.

The problem isn't with dhgb256's External Netflix Viewer, it's with the Netlix API. It currently doesn't list episodes for anything. Development on my part stalled due to the constant state of flux with Netflix API (list not being updated for 2 months, various information missing/broken -- like episodes) and my lack of time over the last few months. I do plan on getting back to it as soon as I finish a couple of other (much simpler) plugins. Hopefully Netflix will have the episodes issue resolved by then.

I run the netflix viewer occaisionally, and noticed recently that shows w/episodes I added to my queue awhile ago still work, but shows I add now just immediately start playing some random episode (same episode each time, but which one it will be seems random for each show I add). I presume then based on your explanation this is because the netflix viewer was already able to load the episode detail for the previously added shows and still remembers it, but can't get episode detail for new shows.

I like your plugin a lot more than the dhgb256's netflix viewer (perhaps due to lack of effort on my part to configure it properly), so I do hope you will be able to finish it up some day. It is very close to perfect already, just needs a few bug fixes, some genre filtering and support for playing from the watch-instantly queue. I can certainly understand the headache you're getting from the Netflix API; developing against a moving target can't be fun.
