Quote:AS far as selecting, if the channels are the same on both STB's, I don't believe there is a way to pick which cpature source will be used.
Under most circumstances it'll choose the capture source to use based on the order they are listed in the config app. It starts at the top and works it's way down the list.

OK - then this might the answer. Create two capture sources, one with composite video input, the other with RF

While most of the channels are the same on both boxes, there are some channels on digital not on analogue.

So ensure that the xmltv feed for the analogue source only contains the channels available on analogue and the feed for the digital channels only contains the digital channels

So I could have say channel 5 only available in analogue (set to use the composite video input) and say channel 91 only available in digital, set to use RF

When I look at the channel guide presumably I would see all the channels combined? But if I were to select say 5 it would fine that channel 5 only exists for the analogue source and record via composite video (and change the analogue box). But I selected channel 91 it would only find that channel in the digital source and hence change the digital STB and record via RF?

I will try it out but I think to remove channels from the lineup I need to recreate the channel guide?

Yes, that all sounds correct.

recreating the capture sources is always the easiest way.

Well the theory panned out partially. I created a new source, added a channel that doesn't exist in my digital STB list, updated the EPG etc. Then checked using Live TV. Since I had no antenna connected to the RF input of the 250 gbpvr issued an error message that it was not able to playback (I use non live mode) the video which makes sense. I then selected a different channel that is attached to the digital STB source and it displayed that fine.

But encountered another problem. Connected the cable to the RF input of the 250 and used the tuning assistance to try to tune into the cable channels. But whether I used aerial or cable channel spacings, nothing tuned in (gbpvr did note it found a bunch of channels but the signal was just interference at best). I wonder if it's because my 250 is a PAL-I (UK) model where as the signal coming in is PAL B. From my limited understanding while the PAL standards are same regarding video, in PAL-I the audio carrier is 5.5Mhz away from the video signal whereas in PAL-B it's 6Mhz so that might cause some tuning problems?

Anybody with any ideas on this?

Thanks
PS

I have just checked. mypvr 250 can do all PAL modes so that isn't the problem WinTVK can tune into the cable channels okay so I must be doing something wrong with the tuning assistant in gbpvr
