Its is good as I can do small admin things without - A. needing the TV, and - B. getting caught. Also means less clutter in the living room. The PVR dosen't even have a keyboard connected. Because I am using a CRT TV I only run 640x480 which makes the VNC a neat little window in the corner of the server screen. weisguy Wrote:time to start bragging to your friends about how great your PVR is and offering to build one for them. : ) Hmmmm... Like this idea very much

Can you get that in writing? daphatty Wrote:I, too, found myself "bored" once I mastered building a PVR. In fact, I force myself to rebuild the darned thing over and over just so I can continue playing around with it! (O.K. maybe force isn't the correct word.) And there is always some new bit of hardware you would just love to include...... daphatty Wrote:Fortunately, I have the luxury of a wife who understands that downtime is a necessary evil. Yeah, but the problem is scheduing any down downtime around the recording schedule.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. :o
Clearly I need to build a second PVR so that I can just swap them over when I want to do some work on the other. It was simple wasn' it? I am sure you all new the answer - you were just being polite in letting me think it was my idea

Probably not. Its not really a feature of much interest to me, so there is lots of other things higher on the priority list.
