Not necessarily. You can configure routers/firewalls not to respond to ICMP ping requests, kind of as a masquerade to try and hide. Back to the original questions, do you have any kind of host firewall on your machine that could be blocking the outgoing requests?

The only possibilities I can think of are the Windows Firewall and Linksys router's firewall. The Windows Firewall is always disabled, and the Linksys router's firewall has never given me problems in the past. I just disabled it and tried again, but nothing still.

And you are browsing to labs.zap2it.com from the same computer you are trying to do an epg update on? I will run an update here on this computer to see if it works for me.

Yes, the very same machine.

I doubt this will help much, but here's two solutions I tried that have failed and created the same error:

1. Deleting and recreating my capture source.
2. Trying a completely phony username and password set to see if I got the same error (I did).

I've also had someone else try pinging the website, and they received time-outs as well. While we established that might be irrelevant, I'd figure I should note it.

Well, that's slightly heartening that it's at least some error on my end. Anything else I should try?

Here's what I got when using XMLTV:

7:56:33 PM - Starting pass 1 of grabber NA_Z2
7:58:18 PM - Finished pass 1 of grabber NA_Z2
7:58:18 PM - Starting pass 2 of grabber NA_Z2
7:58:18 PM - Finished pass 2 of grabber NA_Z2
7:58:18 PM - 0 programs found
7:58:18 PM - Combining Grabber Programs
7:58:18 PM - Finished Combining Grabber Programs
7:58:18 PM - Writing XML
7:58:18 PM - XML Written

So I guess it's a possibility that Zap2It just doesn't have information for my area. Could somebody with a working update give me their zip code so I can see if that works?

Okay, never mind, XMLTV can grab the data, but the channels are not in the correct order (since they're alphabetized and then arranged in GBPVR in this fashion). So there must be something wrong with GBPVR's ability to communicate to Zap2it Labs.

Re-run an epg update, then post all of your log files and hopefully we can see whats going on.
