Vomp is indeed based on mvpmc. The develloper took most of the code from there, misted it out and mixed it up with ideas from former mvp-software. I'm wondering that mvallevand is still working on that "emulation" thing. I hope he/they will add native support in their software for gbpvr as they did for mythtv sometimes. But I see you rely on hauppauge.
If I had enough skill i would build a client for gbpvr out of vomp. Unforunately I never did such hardware-near coding in the past.

They've probably used a MVP side TS demuxer though, the same as the MVPMC project. Its relatively straight forward, but not possible for me since Hauppauge would have to be the ones to add this.

To me it looks like the conversion is done on server-side. I thought you could lend you some ideas concerning the maths needed for this. Not copying the code as it is.

Nah, there is definitely no limitation to 640x480 in there. Its based on the normal PAL/NTSC resolutions, but I found that too much was hidden in the overscan if it was set to fullscreen.

I've tried it now. Can't get any higher vertical size than 480. I patched your standard blue skin - which is hardcoded to 720x480 - to 720x576 but this did'nt help. The picture just gets squeezed back to 720x480 on MVP.

Are you sure your MVP isnt configured for NTSC? You'd need to fire up the Hauppauge MVP software to check.

Yes, I'm sure. Video is displayed correct at 720x576. Else the OSD would fill out the screen completely (besides overscan).

Thats odd, because I see a massive difference between:

<MVPWidth>640</MVPWidth>
<MVPHeight>440</MVPHeight>
<MVPOffsetX>44</MVPOffsetX>
<MVPOffsetY>40</MVPOffsetY>

and

<MVPWidth>640</MVPWidth>
<MVPHeight>500</MVPHeight>
<MVPOffsetX>44</MVPOffsetX>
<MVPOffsetY>40</MVPOffsetY>

These last settings are the defaults in the config.xml, and match my test TV perfectly. With the 480 vertical pixels settings (top of these two) I end up with a huge black bar at the bottom of my screen. When use these default settings (540 vertical pixels) it perfectly fills my screen. I can go out as far as 576 vertical pixels (as long as I have MVPOffsetY=0), but at 576 I'm losing too much picture off the top and bottom of the screen.

Do you really see any difference between 480 and higher on your TV?? I'm not. I still have black bars on top AND bottom.

Yes, a huge difference. As I said above, if I configure it for 480, then I end up with a couple of inches of black bar at the bottom of my screen. If use the default settings then I have a picture that fills the screen. I even double checked prior to responding, since its been a very long time since I tried settings other than the defaults.

Make sure your MVPHeight + MVPOffsetY do not add up to more the 576 or your settings might be ignored.

Is your TV support PAL or NTSC?

I'm in a PAL country, and using a PAL TV.

I tried it at 720x576 without any offset! I will do some more testing when I get home.

Everything's alright now. I put the values in the wrong place. Filled it in under "MAC-xxxxxxx". After putting it into "MAC-Default" it worked.
