do most people here connect up using s-video? there's no other way is there? i did see some stuff on using the vga socket to convert to scart.

for standard tv's yes. The only better method is component. Remember scart uses s-video to transmit signal.

vga to scart is possible but there is no off the shelf method. You have to make your own cable. I did try it once but couldn;t get it to work properly. if you get it wrong, you can blow your tv up.

wrt the hvr 1300: It won't use the analogue and digital parts simultanuously. afaik it has only one tuner that is either used for digital or analogue.

True but it least we know either works in gbpvr, other cards are tried and tested as much as hauppauge cards here.

i'm so close to start buying all this, just need a few more tips/advice please!

i'm looking for a decent analogue/dvb-t card, a 2 in 1 jobbie that will last me until digital switchover, to go with the twin tuner above and id gbpvr compatible

i'll need a dvd drive that i can install vertically in this case, no idea on this one!

and an ir receiver i think? also, the t-500 comes with a remote, but not sure how good it is to use with gbpvr

finally, any suggestions on a wireless usb stick?

would appreciate any advice on the above, and anything i may have overlooked.

the nova-t remote works perfectly with gbpvr.

i'd get a wireless bridge instead of a usb stick. they connect via the ethernet port that your mobo should have. i find wireless usb devices unreliable. also a usb stick may not have a good line of sight to the other machines or router.

If you're going to be doing any video editing then I would seriously consider a second hard drive. A workflow that reads from one drive and writes to another drive is about (at least?) 4 times faster than reading and writing back to the same drive. Even without editing to consider putting the swap file and OS on one drive and the video files on a second drive can be more efficient when high bitrate files are involved (like HDTV); a seperate partition on the same drive doesn't count.

If you can only fit one disk in the case, fit the biggest you can afford. If funds permit, I would be look at getting a 400GB drive. remember to create separate partitions for windows (c and the rest for all your recordings
