Thats where I'm screwing up. I don't have a streaming port opened. where do I choose the streaming port? Within vlc? Heres the screenshot of my web interface configuration screen.

PEACE

I DID try opening the default port in the wiki 7648. That didn't change a thing. As you can see from the screenshot, I don't think EWA is actually loading. I don't see anything that looks like the screenshots on the wiki. I definitely don't see the streaming port setup screen I have seen in so many other posts about the EWA.

This looks like the default GBPVR web interface, I think. Thus, we're back to actually getting EWA to come up on my system.

You enter the streaming port in the settings-window you get when you click stream for a recording in the "manage recordings" screen. I hope you understand what I mean.Smile

But where do the settings for VLC on the client side get set? Is that set as one off the 7647 in config? I just had an issue with my VLC streamer was at 1234, and the VLC viewer kept trying to connect at 7648.

I think that is set by the client when it starts vlc.
The vlc port set to 1234 was a "bug" I think. I read something about it in another thread.

I don't have a 'Stream' for recordings in my "Manage Recordings' screen. I only have 'Play program' and download. I thought that was supposed to be there. It was there before I upgraded my gbpvr to the latest version.
AHA!!! Now, I have to wonder why 'Stream' isn't showing up..
Any ideas on that?

The 1234 port was a bug fixed in this patch.

Get rid of the vlc.exe in your path location.....the location should just end with the \ you do not need the vlc.exe

Also....apply this patch. Stop the gbpvr recording service first and then apply the patch and restart.

So, I've gotten a bit further. I got rid of the vlc.exe and that brought up the stream option. I setup streaming on port 7648 and opened that on my router both locally and at a remote location.
I applied the patch, but still got the occasional error and, when I went back to try streaming again, it was defaulting to port 1234. I DID ensure the recording service was shut down before applying the patch. Thats not a deal for me right now since I can remember to put in the port number until I get the actual streaming figured out.
I started the stream, it said it was streaming and the display shows the result. The stream DOES open on my local network but not over the internet at the remote location. No audio, no video. I tried running external player as well and only got a blank vlc video screen come up, same as before.
I tried all the different bitrates to see if it was just trying to push too much (Comcast is a measly 384K up), but this didn't change a thing.

Sounds like what was happening to me. Put in 7648 for the stream port (or whatever it's called) and hit the update button. Then try it. You have to hit update after you make any changes.

Thought I'd try this out after not using for it a while. I get to the same point as talcum (Patch duly applied). Also, even after I update the 7648, it is not saved, and defaults to 1234 on alter try. UVNC to server to check VLC running, yup, is ok. So why no streaming :????

k.

[EDIT]Doh. Scotch that. Recent WinXP re-install, forgot to add GBPVRStream Port 7648 to windows firewall. Try it w/o firewall at first... Still have 1234 <=> 7648 not updating though..
