Ah I didn't d/l the beta and I might just to see if I get the latest version.

As for fixing..... it's worse now.... it's complaining that it can not find the previous version I had. BTW this is in the log from the admin site (not the EWA but the base).

Fatman_do Wrote:Download and install the Video Archive plugin (even if you don't wish to use it).

It contains an updated version of the CommonGBPVRUtilities file. You can delete the VA plugin from the plugins folder afterward.

hmm... I saw the 5/17/07 update just now, so I put both Video Archive (non-beta) and Weather from 5/07 on, configured Video Archive, Weather fired up, pulled data. It's set to update each 15 min.

I quit everything, moved the video archive plugin out, restarted everything.

It's been a day and weather still hasn't updated (I've been gone, that's how the day lag occurred in testing).

GBPVR is busy for a bit now, tomorrow AM I'll put the video archive plugin back and see if it updates.

So, do others see Weather update once it has been configured with Video_Archive and then V_A removed?

I don't see the change discussed here:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=19512&page=3
mentioned in the changelog.

It's all good, but it would help to know if I'm done troubleshooting!

Thanks--

You don't need to bother with moving the Video Archive plugin back. It just includes the latest dll file that weather also uses. It is installed in a different folder. Someone asked where the latest version of CommonGBPVRUtillities.dll can be found. Weather is not dependant on anything from Video Archive per se.

Your update problem appears to be possibly something else. What is your zipcode or whatever is used for your location?

I don't have anything fancy installed, pretty much a basic setup. And it's a very clean install as of March, nothing but the Video Archive set added.

Can you set your logging to verbose mode and post your main gbpvr log?

Thanks

Here it is, I don't see much there. It just fails to update again. The 06:23 update still hadn't changed as of 8:00.
I've included a picture, I've got the update box checked...

The attached log was taken with Video Archive installed, Weather installed, then the VA plugin moved out of the plugins directory.

I repeated this with VA back in place and active, with Weather configured from the VA settings, with no difference.

The system is set to sleep HDs after 10 min but never hibernates, itself.

Thanks for the help-

EDIT: Just to be clear, I did earlier let it sit for 1.5 days and no update occurred; this time was 1.5 hrs wait as I wanted a clean log etc, but I have tried longer just in case of slow updates to the actual content etc.

Even if the plug-in pulls a new forecast from the web every 15 minutes, msnbc weather may not update its data for hours. Thus it might be that the same data is being fetched by the plug-in over and over again for hours and it will look like no update has occurred even though data was fetched.

That said, it does look like the weather is not being fetched like it should be. I'll put more debugging messages in the next revision to help track this down.

EDIT: I think I found the bug.

Smile That's why I edited to mention the 1.5 day test. My first thought is always that I've got something set wrong.

Even if the data doesn't change, the "as of XXX" timestamp on the bottom of the CURRENT screen should be time time of the last fetch, I assume, even if the data is still older/ the radar images haven't been updated, etc. I think, anyway, can't test that assumption. At least it is that way on the first download.

Thanks! Do pm me if you want me to test a new build.

Actually the time shown on the last update is the last update time as provided by the web page from which the data was fetched. It is not the last time the plug-in tried to fetch the data. So, this time only changes when the source web page is updated.

The change was very small (I had one line of code after a test rather than before) so I don't any major testing is needed. I have built the plug-in using the latest version of commongbpvrutilities.dll however and I don;t want to post it before I release the updated video archive plug-in that also depends on this DLL.

OK, thanks for the info. Looking forward to a release!

So- what about my setup is it that makes this issue apparent? It seems many many people use Weather; but I haven't been able to run it for a very long time.
