They seem to work well for boosting & splitting my cable signal. I got one off eBay and found another on sale at Lowes for about half price.

You can use a single output amp into a splitter. I did that with an old Radio Shack antenna amp for quite a while before it stopped working.

Interesting when I read about that one, the freq range is only to 900 mhz. I thought I've read somewhere that thats a mistake many make. That now a days one with a high mhz (I believe 1000 mhz) is recommended.

They work fine for me, driving my HD cable boxes. As always, YMMV. You'd need to see if your cable co uses freqs that high, I guess. These are intended for amplifying TV antenna signals and the highest freq used for TV in the U.S. is around 800MHz, IIRC.

Would either of these (especially the Channel Master amps) work with HD signals? I have an HVR-1600 and understand I need to split the cable signal and feed it to both the Cable and Antenna inputs to get the card to tune QAM channels. Reading about frequencies in this post, I wonder what frequencies the HD/unencrypted QAM channels are broadcast in?

Exactly what I'm in the midst of doing.
