I just tried a fresh install on a system and it ended up putting the wmppia.dll in my c:\ directory...

My recorded files are set to my d drive ( D:\PVR ), I presume that's the reason for different placement.

Ahh, well it seems the GAC folder does exist. It's just hidden in explorer.
If you go to the %WinDir%\Assembly folder using cmd you will see it there.
Still seemed to install wmppia.dll in my root folder though...

On my machine it installed on G:\ that's the hd where my recordings are stored. I noticed it before, deleted it and it got replaced right away when I started gbpvr.

probably .net 2.0 damage...
that's where all of .net2 goes...
try reinstalling dot.net2, as i don't have any wmppia.dll in c:\ either..
it probably can't find the registry entry about the path for that file,so sticks it there..
do you have wmp10 installed?

I'm pretty sure I don't have any 2.0 damage on all of my machines.
I develop exclusively in .net (personal and career) and haven't had anything like this happen before.

WMP 10 is installed on a machine that put the file in c:
WMP 9 installed on a machine that doesn't have the file in c:

..... not sure what all that means though Wink

Its probably just some bug in the Wise Installer app I use for making the installation package, or maybe in the Windows MSI installer.

I'm not particularly concerned about this, but in a future release I will be moving to a new installer app so I can do stuff like detect .net 2.0 etc, so hopefully it'll sort itself out then.

I'm not concerned either, it just seemed odd. I'm in CNC machining and have no idea of what is involved in this type of programming, just an end user. I do have to program in a uniform way so the guy on the dayshift doesnt miss the point of what the machine is doing. His bad editing could then make feed moves rapid moves (for example), with shrapnel and thousands in damage resulting. The knowledge and level of discussion here is surperb.

I keep getting this file created in my root drives as well, I keep deleting it, and GBPVR keeps "reconfiguring" and recreating this file...

On a secondary effect, I also keep getting this:

Code:
Detection of product '{4E3C136A-F737-4CF0-9F89-538E733E8C7E}', feature 'Complete', component '{FADA9578-269D-4426-8AE3-8C979FC5F664}' failed.  The resource 'C:\Program Files\devnz\' does not exist.

Then 'C:\Program Files\devnz\' is recreated, I installed it in a different location... So I keep deleting this directory, and then it gets recreated...
