hillerj Wrote:Ok, I am sure I am missing something simple but I set SaveZap2itXML to true in config.xml, restarted the scheduling service and updated the EPG but I don't see any file in C:\ being created. I am running GBPVR 1.0.16. Is this version supported? Since that wasn't working I set UseGBPVR_XML to false and tried to run this utility but it just crashed. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok...sounds like you may have missed a step or so in the instrucutions on the wiki:

Minimal command line instructions and adding to PostUpdateEPG processing…..

1. Unzip to your gbpvr install directory directory.
2. Update or create a PostUpdateEPG.bat file with a command line of: schedulesdirectimport schedulesdirect_email_address password >schedulesdirectimport.log

Where schedulesdirect_email_address and password are your credentials for SchedulesDirect.

The >schedulesdirect.log part of the command line will cause the output messages from the schedulesdirectimport process to be written to that log file…..if you don’t want a log file just do not have anything after the password in the command line.

Note: You can also set your schedulesdirect_email_address and password in the config file rather than using a command line. Just read the instructions in the config file.

To save download time and SchedulesDirect Bandwidth (this is recommended): Set the UseGBPVR_XML tag in the schedulesdirectimport.exec.config file to true. You must also set the <SaveZap2itXML> tag in GBPVR’s config.xml file of to true.

Also.....when you force an EPG Update I am not sure if the postupdateepg.bat file is executed by GBPVR.........

When you ran it from just a command line so long as you had the settings in the config file set with your account information and not to use the gbpvr download it should work.......

hillerj Wrote:One final question, I built the SchedulesDirect Utilities using Visual Studio Express. Is that acceptable?

I am sure it would work.....if you download the compiled app then you don't need to build anything.

Thanks for the quick reply...sorry it took me so long to get back. Not sure what I did wrong the first time but it seems to be working. Well kind of. I ran PostUpdateEPG.bat and it seems to have worked. It updated ExtendedEWA.db3 (from looking at the timestamp). However, when I go to EWA I don't see any of the extended information like original air date or new show indicator. Do I have to enable something in EWA to pick up this new information? I am running build65 of EWA. What am I missing now? Thanks again.

Go into the config tab of EWA....you should see the options for the extended info....check the boxes to turn on what you want to see.

Thanks again for the reply. I don't see any checkboxes for the extended info. The only checkboxes I see I pasted below. Any more thoughts? Thanks in advance.

This means the extendedewa.db3 file is not being found in the gbpvr directory....should not be in the web directory....just the gbpvr directory....once you store your db there then the options should show up in the config tab.

Let me know what happens.

Actually the file extendedewa.db3 is in my gbpvr directory, and always has been (to be clear its in C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr which I believe is the default install). After my recordings get finished I'll do another reboot but I am pretty sure I already tried that. I don't think it does but does case matter on the filename? Thanks.

Interesting....what version of EWA are you running? GBPVR 1.0.16 is ships with build 64.....you need to be running build 65 or 66 to use the extended data via EWA. Instructions are on the wiki for upgrading.

I'm trying to rebuild XGuide with schedules direct utilities and the Schedule class seems to have lost the isRepeat() method from the zap2it days. Is it possible to add that method into schedules direct utilities or was it removed for a technical reason?

Edit: Looking at SchedulesDirect.default.db3 I found the new_show field which is exposed through api call isNewShow(). Different api to the same information I guess.

Schedules Direct does not have a repeat indicator....they have a New indicator.....so there is an isNewShow() method......as your research found. Big Grin

Let me know if you need anything else.
