only thing now, is in channel listings we used to be able to scroll to program and press OK on hauppauge remote and go direct to live tv, it doesnt do that now, it opens another menu to record or what have you

It's never done that. Pressing 'ok' in the TV Guide has always popped up another menu.

I'm sure you're thinking of the the 'play' button though, which does exactly this.
