I'm on 1.0.16, but I don't think it would matter...

Get something like TSReader Lite (free)... find out which transmitter you use... go here to find out what freqs your muxs are on and start scanning...

The free version of TSReader allows you to save the scan data to html.

You'll also need something to edit your gbpvr.db3 database - there is a free version of sqlite expert available.

Once I get my mux B problems fixed, I'll likely post some more details Smile

Thanks Alex.

I have downloaded the tools, but can't get to poke around untill the weekend.
I'm on the Mendip transmitter. I'll post any results and stream info that may be usefull to others trying this.

Great stuff... very useful to have someone to compare notes with... I'm still having problems with one specific mux. Smile

Alternatively, just copy the info into the scan-X.cache file (where X is a number) in the BDA folder. These cache files are what GB-PVR uses when you go to 'Map digital channels...'. Unless Config ignores entries in those files that don't have video pids, they'll appear in the list for you to allocate to the channels.

Brian

So do these cache files get recreated when I 'Rescan' in 'Digital Channel Mapping'...

If you start with a new BDA cap. source, the cached info doesn't exist (obviously) and the file is created when you do the first scan. If you re-visit the capture source, the little window at bottom right is populated with the data from the cache file for that source (and the tuning info is available in the drop-down list boxes on the left). A rescan will delete the cache file and start from scratch.

I think that's how it works. I've added channel/tuning date to the cache files in the past to save me having to do a full rescan for just one new channel for instance.

[EDIT] Existing channel names and tuning info don't get removed from the DB during/after a rescan. That's how you can retain BBC3/BBC4 (for example) details when rescanning during the day when they're not broadcasting.

Brian

Are you saying I can manually add in channels that have no video PID available and if so how is this done?

A normal string on my QAM device is

T:83,83,5~P:162~V:78~A:79~PMT:135~N:>83.5 Unknown5 (000(AC3))

and I've tried for QAM audio only channels something like this without success

T:83,83,5~P:162~A:79~PMT:135~N:>83.5 Unknown5 (000(AC3))

I am using 'V:000' to represent the video PID and it works fine... never tried not specifying a 'V:' yet.

Funnily enough, if I specify a valid video PID from another channel on the same mux, I can listen to BBC Radio Scotland and watch BBC One (without sound obviously) at the same time... a bit like one of those dubbed cleaning product commercials... Big Grin

That's interesting Brian. So I after a rescan I would need only to copy/paste the tuning info into the cache file(s) - (the Channel info would still be in the DB) - and assign the channels...

See, I'm looking at how I can 're-install' my radio channels in the event of a catastrophy

Darn - just as I'm about to reply, someone at my BT exchange obviously unplugged everything - probably to plug in the kettle or the vacuum cleaner. Rolleyes

Two hours later (with my broadband connection back)...

That's the theory and it's worked for me when performing minor tweaks such as adding occasional channels without having to wait for all four of my Nova-t cards to do a rescan when a new TV channel comes into the picture (pun kinda intended :o ).

I've not used it as a disaster recovery method though. A backup of your config.xml, gbpvr.db3 is normally enough. Keep the modified cache files as well if you like.

I'm not sure if sub is keeping an eye on this thread or if he has both eyes closed (fingers in ears singing LA LA LA :p ) but if you're there sub - how about re-enabling the detection/logging of DVB-T channels that don't have a video PID?

Perhaps as an option in config.xml which is normally disabled and officially unsupported.

Cheers,
Brian
