I think your original idea of the interference getting into the signal lead is entirely possible. Coax cable is unbalanced, and can carry such signals if not properly grounded. But grounding at such high frequencies is difficult. A more convenient way is to block the interfering signal with ferrite beads that surround the antenna cable. But an even simpler way is to coil up about a 10 foot section of the cable in a 6 or 8 inch diameter coil near where it enters the PVR. That should block the high frequencies from propagating along the cable shield, while allowing the desired signal to pass through the cable. And maybe you can put it back into your case.
