Two kids.

Does the device function in WinTV? I'm starting to suspect not.

I deliberately did not install the Hauppauge junk but will as I agree, it's needed to figure this out. I'll post back shortly.

sub, using WinTV's junk, I am able to pick up all my cable channels and 7 HD channels. It appears the card is working well.
I'll try totally removing gbpvr and starting over. If you think of something else, let me know. I appreciate your time working on this.

I completely removed GBPVR and reinstalled the latest version and first just tried the analog tuner and it does work now. It grabbed all the channels just fine. I think even though I emptied the EPG this version was in a system that at one time had a PVR500 in it and just needed to be 'cleaned'. Shoulda done that first anyway.

Next I tried setting the ATSC and it DID NOT crash after taking about 20 minutes to scan the HD channels but it said it didn't find any. I think this problem is with me as I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong in setting up that tuner.
Maybe someone who's gone through this in GBPVR can suggest something.

Ok, I may be in shape now. All the analog channels are fine and setting the device type as the ATSC has found 6 HD channels in mapping so I may be good to go. I guess what's confusing is how it maps the channels.
Say I channel 6 in analog but it also has an HD channel as well. When mapped to channel '6' is the tuner actually switching to the HD channel? If this is true, some of these that are mapped, don't look good enough to be HD. Maybe some fine tuning is needed.
Also, I guess I can't record from both analog and ATSC at the same time or can I?

When you tell GB-PVR to record a specific channel, it works its way down the capture source list looking for one that has the requested channel, and is available at the specific time. So... if the ATSC capture source is listed first, then it'll usually be used in preference to any other capture source that has that channel.

I've got a similar setup, and am experiencing similar difficulty in adding my HVR-1600 (using OTA-ATSC) to GB-PVR.

What did you do to get from scanning the digital band (at length) and finding no signals, to where you are after this post?

Thanks in advance for any responses!

One of the first things I did was to use the latest drivers from Hauppuage. While that was not the key, it has helped somewhat.
I really didn't do anything differently so that it worked. In fact, I did the same thing over and over a few times but the antennae I had was moved around a bit. Some of the info on http://www.antennaweb.org/ helped me with the stations in my area.
I'm not sure how it's suppose to work but as I speak, I am recording (successfully) from 1 ATSC channel and 1 analog channel though the vast majority of times, I've not been successful. I've had some luck setting the ATSC to record first thent the analog.
