I think its more stable because it kills gaya before it can even cares about the Content-Length.

I'm pretty sure I have determined gaya isn't even get involved with retrieving or processing the cgi files, but feel free to do this how you want.

Bah, it was the firewall. I added port 7647 explicitly and videos play now. Stupid Windows firewall.

Over composite signal everything worked pretty well. The GBPVR menus are still a little wonky (the far right 20 pixels or so display on the left side and some of the right side is missing), but I was able to play a video, stop it and return to the menus.

Back to HDMI, I could play the video but when I stopped I lost video signal and the PCH seemed to lock up.

Off topic, I'll be glad when Syabas/PCH get rewind working at all for TS files and get fast forward working more reliably. I don't want to have to transcode everything to mpeg.

Good news, I recommend people have the recordingservice open for all tcp and udp for general use but if you are specific 7647 does now have to be open to the outside.

Some suggestions

- download the latest mvpmcx2.zip I think it wll be better with HD monitors

- use the MVP Position plugin to fix your screen dimension problems The default changes in this latest version to 720x480 for HD too which is probably the biggest part of your screen issue. Hopefully you have some kind of info button that tells what res your screen is in.

- hit a key after video play often gbpvr doesn't send a screen for what appears to be a long time. This bites me so often.

I totally agree about ts files. It's not yet fixed in the next release but I keep complaining. Until they fix this type of basic functionality I am not pushing to hard for official support for user apps.

I fiddled with the MVP position settings in config.xml and got the screen better (don't really want to add another plugin right now).

I couldn't get the new mvpmcx2 to work. When I executed startmeup, the HDMI signal would drop and nothing would ever make it come up. The box was still alive (I could see it receiving keystrokes in the telnet session) but no screen. I cold booted the PCH a couple times, tried with and without --edtv, pushed buttons, etc. I reverted to the original mvpmcx2 and things worked fine. Hitting a button on the remote does get the menus back after playing a video.

Could you tell me what command line options you were using in smartmeup? Also you should probably set config.xml to 720 480 0 0 when trying the new version, your tweaks might not be compatible.

 Where in config.xml do you set that?

You remember with the old mvpmcx2 I got the full screen OK but a repeated segment at the LHS, using just -m 720 & in startmeup.

Code:
-m 720 --display 720x576 --frequency 50
It did what mcervi said, just didn't display the GBPVR screen at all.

So I changed startmeup back to this (with the new mvpmcx2)
Code:
-m 720 &

and presto I got the GBPVR screen nicely centred (almost) but with black bars about 1" wide L & R, and the whole thing a bit low, just clipping the bottom off the GBPVR screen. So the new mvpmxc2 was certainly an improvement, but it doesn't seem to like the display and/or frequency commands?

Again, MVP Position wouldn't let me move the thing left or down, but right was OK.

Sheik Yerbouti posted this example http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...ostcount=5. You should probably try 720 480 or 720 576 as the width and height and then MVP Postion will work better

As fas I can make out, that example excerpt is from the section that the MVPPosition plugin amends. So 720, 480, 0, 0 are Width, Height, OffsetX, OffsetY. However I though you changed these anyway in the plugin... after moving the yellow box and reading it off screen. Does setting these figures just change the start co-ordinates so you can move the box ...?

No the plugin just gives you the values you enter manually at least for me. It also defaults to specific pal settings which can be a problem.

Note too that after saving config.xml you will need to restart the recording service.
