You run it using Quickstream Fix, though it is a little bit buried in the menu (I am using VRD-TVSuite if it matters).

First, open a file and select Tools/Quick Stream Fix/Output Stream/.../Options/Audio Properties
Encoding: MPEG
Bit Rate: 192 kbps rate matches AC3, at least for my cable company.
Check "Remember These Settings". I also run Filters with QSF, but that is to correct a video problem.

Finally, if you have several files to correct within a given folder, you can use a batch process for that, after you first set the encoding and bit rate as above. I have found that it is easier to first select the output folder for the batch, and then the input folder. But it works very well for me, and I don't notice any difference at all in the audio quality from the original AC3s.

Yep - thats where I was looking Smile I'm ordering a few other bits and bobs at the same time, it's just too tempting to get get carried away. I'm ok until the missus accepts the parcel then I have to explain that its all to make her life better.

Hi JimF
Thanks for the info - I'll see which format of audio I end up with - videoredo is a great bit of software.

cheers

Keith

My wife is watching a recorded program on one of our MVP's in the other room right now. GBPVR is using about 4% CPU. The recording is an mpeg file, standard def, recorded with an analog PVR-150 card.

We have two MVP's and love 'em. Started using the mvpmc dongle on them last year and have not loaded a Hauppauge dongle since.

I normally make sure my order is for £50 or more to take advantage of the free postage...

As I mentioned earlier I bought an MVP a very long time ago when Radio Shack stopped carrying it but I never used it. I finally opened the box and just checked the revision level which is D3A. I've read comments else where on the forum that say "if you have version H or later you won't have problems". What problems should I expect?

I sort-of promised the wife that GB-PVR would work better than the cable company's pvr (which has been acting up alot lately). Now I'm wondering if that'll be a true statement with this MVP in the mix. Sad

Those comments are probably mine about loading a startup file for mvpmc. For now it is certainly a non-issue.

If my MVP died, there would be hell to pay in this household, so I'm contemplating another for a spare. Is this a waste of cash or should I wait a while for something better to come along. I'm not really concerned about HD, and probably wouldn't pay a subscription to get it.
