I too have a HVR1600 and PVR150 that is mostly working well. As I understand it, even though you pay for digital cable, the signal that comes out of the cable box\set box is analog. Thus, with the 3 tuners in this type of system, you can hook one analog tuner to the cable box to record the encrypted stations (I'm not quite there because of ir blaster problems), and the other two tuners directly to the cable line. Of the two tuners connected to the cable line, one will be analog and not HD, but the other one, the digital side of the HVR1600, can either receive the clear, unencrypted, digital signals or the over-the-air ATSC signal, assuming your signal is strong enough.

While I have haven't actually been able to watch 3 shows that were all recorded at the same time, I recorded 3 and that action didn't cause the GBpvr to crash. I simply haven't hooked everything up correctly yet (the tuner attached to cable box didn't change channels and didn't get sound because I tried to connect using S-video and don't have an extra in-bound sound on my computer and the qam signals were not strong enough).

Until my son is available to help me, I have the two analog tuners nicely connected without the cable box and can record two analog shows very well.

Good luck.

Can you still cancel/change your order? I'd suggest you get a PVR-500 instead, its basically two 150's on one board. You only need one coax cable attached, but can still record two SD shows at the same time. Saves you a couple of $ and a PCI slot Smile

With Newegg??? Pshhht... it's already on its way! They're that quick Smile

I prefer the 2 cards over a single. That way when I decide to add HD down the way, I can switch one PVR-150 out and move it to one of my other machines ^-^; Although thanks for the suggestion. I've already got 2 coax lines ran to the back of my set from my main junction upstairs. It used to be a DirecTV setup, and their DirecTivo box required 2 lines. When we made the switch to cable, I simply cut the dish and redirected the RG-6 towards the cable NID. Let me quickly and easily rewire the house for cable. Also got the jacks at every TV for Cat6 ethernet, just haven't had time to wire up my patch panel and test it all out. Although that's something I'm defiantly putting higher on my priorities list now that I'm building a HTPC.
