Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I have noticed that this forum doesn't have all the noise and static you grow so accustomed to on other boards.

I guess I'm ok at searching, though I haven't had a lot of the issues that I see arising on here. As for the other issues (and I've had plenty, believe you me!) the info is here. Somewhere. Usually not even in a thread dedicated to the issue in my case. Most of the other forums I belong to have the same questions asked over and over and over again, so I try my best to avoid adding to thatSmile. Just lots and lots of reading and poking around.

However...now it's time to get down to business.... Long story or not, someone has got to explain the poll situation. I was going to let it go until I saw something about mayo. That's one of my only, and worst, fears on this planet. Yuck...it makes me green just thinking about it...

I might as well answer, as it will only help my post count! You may have missed it but I hit third place a couple of weeks ago in posts. And now with the boards being quiet, I fear having a few guys catch up... Really really scared...!

Anyway, there was another guy, and seriously I'm going to use broad strokes here because the details won't serve any real purpose, that had second place. (Reven was third at the time) Somewhere around 20,000 posts.

There's really only so much real content a guy can muster when he's trying to average 20 posts a day (sub is excluded of course) and so there'd be posts on tweaking computers, networks, cars, microwave ovens. There'd be non productive complaints about GB-PVR... He was famous for releasing new skins -- elements were probably all taken from the darkest corners of the internet -- and they weren't even for GB-PVR!

But where this thread took a tangent was that this guy used to create polls. Lots of them. About anything, about everything, like "What colour are the door knobs on your kitchen cupboards?" or "What's the difference between a football?", or "What condiment do you use with your fries/chips..."

I think we have all tried at one time or another to pull him aside and gently slow him down, but it never worked.

A short while ago, he became quite belligerent and vandalized the wiki, and he was banned. (for any other lurkers - it took A WHOLE LOT for this to happen) And with him went 1000s and 1000s of posts and threads... In most case, without anyone really noticing...

Guys poke fun at me, but I'd like to think it's all in good fun, because my average for valid posts over useless posts is still better than 50 %... I think

At least I'm not having guys run network tweaks that I haven't tried myself first!

“If this is the way Queen Victoria treats her prisoners, she doesn't deserve to have any.”
