I know this is odd, because I still believe that all the MVP/NMT conferences should be merged (the first three MVP forums messages are NMT related right now) but I think that is best and then I will not be making any more public announcements or releases. This would allow me to remove the file from mvpmc.org to separate Jon from the debate. Perhaps just a Private Announcements area under Community information would suffice? If vBulletin allows you to restrict it to GBPVR reg'd users only that is private enough for me. I decided that I am not infringing on my own copyright by discussing the application in this forum. That stinks I couldn't believe how harsh they were being (especially when mvpcmx2 & gbpvr seem to have less problems then the NMT does). I guess no good deed goes unpunished.
I assume this means no more releases for a while? I imagine anyone who plans to purchase a PCH in the near future should download the current release ASAP (assuming it's still available).

On your request for restricting the NMT sub forum to only registered users, is it really worth doing this? I can if you really want it, but I cant understand how that will help. The way I see it, your problems arent coming from the GB-PVR forums and adding this extra hurdle isnt going change anything with n8gray's perceived problem with the mvpmcx2's use of GPL code.
As long as mvpmcx2 exists, and there are lots of happy people already using it, then people will continue to discuss mvpmcx2 and recommend it here and on other forums on the net, including the NMT forum. They'll still come looking for it, and forcing them to sign up to download it doesnt really achieve much. Sure a few people will decide its not worth creating an account so they can download, but has that really changed anything other than making one extra annoying step for downloading it?

Couldn't you be under the assumption that you do have the blessings of the license holders to work on the code with the impending source release? I mean, has anybody contacted you claiming to be a license holder wondering where your code modifications are?

This is the first time this has come up, but it is the darkside of the GPL. It doesn't matter that I contributed a lot of the original code and have debugged and hacked out the the new code on my own, and it doesn't matter if a had written all the code myself, or if I got agreements, people like n8gray will ask for the source code on principle and not because they have any use for it, he indicated that he was not a developer.

Martin, I'm with dirkomatic on this one http://www.networkedmediatank.com/viewto...9&start=38 and from the rest of that thread, I think n8gray is running out of steam. Keep up the good work (and I don't even have an NMT)

Its unfortunate that sometimes it appears the GPL empowers individuals to a sense of entitlement over someone else's efforts on demand, for the sake of "it having to be so".
I am contemplating a PCH as part of my "Digital Strategy", and am closely keeping an eye on things here. Without question, Martin's efforts is something that does not go un-appreciated by users here. 3,000+ posts in such a short time speak volumes to this.

I also have to express my appreciation for all the work Martin has put in on the mvpmc packages. The PCH is pretty cool by itself but with the interface to GB-PVR makes it even better. As a software developer myself I can really appreciate the work that goes into these things. There's no way I could ever have the patience or dedication to do something like GB-PVR or mvpmc. It really frosts me when some anal a**hole (I guess that's kind of redundant, isn't it? ) just has to screw things up for everyone else.
So, hang in there and 'Illigitimati Non Carborundum'...

wouldn't this be considered 'beta testing'? and not really be considered a 'release'? or how are you supposed to do it with gpl? even beta code is supposed to be released? and just how granular is that? every letter you change has to be posted? there has to be some space between actually writing and releasing...or how is testing supposed to happen at all? talk about killing collaboration...
i suppose you could always just do like most big companies, post a partial source and give no help with compiling so you'll be 'legal' yet the results would be useless... and don't update it almost ever... great news to hear, the day after i got mine... instructions looked daunting, but i had it running in less than an hour.. works great except for the limitations imposed by lack of hardware info.. had troubles getting shared media to play from gbpvr interface, but changed login for rec service fixed it.. a skinnable interface with livetv.. one has to wonder if they might be jealous...lol
