My comments have nothing at all to do with the PCH, I was just offering an opinion where I though MVP users would get the most enjoyment playing their stored movies. A new plugin sounds like a better idea than trying to use the video library and based on my experience with vlc and mvpmc I think UbuStream could also play a part in a final solution

Ok good point. I'm not that kind of an expert that if you write a message like that I immediate have the solution what to do. I'm sure that you are right. On this I'm more of a user who would like to have a plugin that will take care of it. Although I'm not afraid of configs and script I do not want to prepare every DVD by converting it manually many hours before I actually going to watch it. If it is not possible to watch it instantly (ok with a slow start because of converting) it is not a WAF and I will not use it.

I have a DVD player with dolby digital hooked to my stereo. I'll use that when I want dolby digital. In any other case I would like a plugin that when I select the DVD folder on HD and press play it will start playing. If it converts in the background to MPG, AVI or any other format I do not really care. As long as it is the best option for MVP and that it cleans the TMP.

I also would like the most enjoyment from my MVP. After all they cost 90 euro (about 60 dollar) each and I have two. I know nothing about PCH and GBVR combination or any other combination with a media extender. However if PCH is the way to go and it has the same functions as a MVP (and I hope more) I would like know more about it. I think MVP is nice because I'm not building a seperate media center for every TV (just two Smile ) I've got in the house. But the MVP is limited and so yesterday...

When I want to listen to music (I have a CRT TV) I usually do not take the effort of starting up the TV and the MVP. I just connect my iPod to my stereo and press play. Takes to long for everything is started and I selected (with a remote) some music. The MVP reacts somewhat slow anyway. So I only use it for Live TV in the bedroom and recorded shows in the living.

I use GBPVR for a few years now and I think it is great. Great forum and great plugins. If I can help to test things, to make clear how I see it by help in the thinking process I'm more then happy to do so. I can not program and I sometimes I have a busy live but whenever I can I'll help.

For anyone wanting DVD support I have just released a new version of ZProcess that will help out...

It's still a workaround but pretty elegant...

Works on a MVP. Just select a VOB file and voila almost instant plat. Very nice work I must say.

It does not work good yet. It stutters (is that english?). So I'm thinking that my Windows 2003 server Pentium IV 2.8 Ghz with 1GB is not good enough... Hmm.... I'll look further this week to try to make it work without stutter.

To be continued.

Yes stuttering indicates that ZProcess/MEncoder is having some trouble transcoding the VOB, even though A VOB is just an MPG, and the transcode is generally faster than AVI to MPG. Ir might have something to do with the size of the files.

But I have a lesser system than yours and I don't have trouble after some system tweaking. Usually it's competing processes... Do you have a lot of things auto running on your server?
