I don't get it... Why can I see a picture and sound (a little stuttery for HD content, but that's my machine) in the map screen, but I can't see it watching live TV or recording, or see it in WinTV?

I used to ask 'why?' Now I just reinstall...

OK. I'm not completely sure why it's sort of working, but I guess I'm on to the next step...

With Live TV, as I start Live TV, the channel that should be first displayed does not. I channel up or down, and then back, and I get my Live TV: Logs attached

I also tried to watch TV from TV Guide. I get black screen. But when I channel up and then back, I get the vid/aud

Next, I can't record. Ut looks like I'm recording, but I get 0 byte files... ( I've read a bit that this was happening... Logs attached

If you don't mind looking at the previous logs, I'm having the same problem...

I have moved the 1600 into my production machine. Somewhere on the net I was reading several posts where there seemed to be incompatibilities between the 1600 and Asus motherboards. Well, I had my share of lock ups and put the 1600 into my asrock.

Holy cow, are things more stable now...

Anyway, I'm still at the same point. Shakey and stuttery HD liveTV (though that's my under powered machine for sure, but 0 byte recordings in either dvrms or ts. Haven't installed any other muxes, waiting for your cue...

And QAM Live TV won't start unless I kick it off and then on the channel...

It won't work if I pop to an analog channel and then back. It has to be QAM ch1 to QAM ch2 to QAM ch1...

Did you spend more time trying to get it going in WinTV?

It really sounds like you're device isnt delivering data, or not complete/good data, resulting in broken live tv and empty recordings.

just running a scan in wintv. I will probably not be able to see how it's going until after work...

So with a card that's working, even on a lesser machine (~2ghz Duron, 1GB RAM, Saphire Radeon 128 agp 8x Video) I should still get something recording, LiveTV should work better? Wouldn't there be expected stuttering in LiveTV (with pass through)

You hardware should be fine. If its not, you may expect some frame loss or stuttering (but probably not too much). Recordings would be fine.

An getting ready for the next step,...

How would someone scan the QAM and see what's become encrypted and clear (even temporarily) in a faster,

'oh look there's something new' wanna watch a movie' way, rather than,

'honey, you don't mind I take the PVR down for an hour to look for new channels, do you?'
