I could never get a video playing using the streaming button menus...

the only way I could view a file is by clicking play on the main menu with all the videos...

if I actually clicked on the streaming button its takes me to the streaming settings and if I tried to play any file from there I would get an error in coreplayer and medie player no matter which streaming settings downscaling I used and the mobile vlc player could not play anything from the stream.vlc on my phone.

If I go to the video files screen, there are three buttons - stream, play and download. if I select download it wants to download the whole file. If I select play it will actually stream the file to my phone but in full quality. My files are converted to AVI already and most won't be able to play mpeg2 streams on their phones. The re-encoding options makes the most sense and if all the file formats that gbpvr encodes to are displayed in EWA that watching a show on your phone will be easy to do and if you plan ahead you wil lhave your whole video library at your fingertips to view. Big Grin

Sub added the 3gp and mp4 encoding in gbpvr and it was a brilliant feature that we can use.

You did open up the streaming port on your firewall and have that forwarded to your GBPVR machine as well...correct? If you can steam to another machine outside of your network then we can rule out that there is a configuration issue.

I can stream fine onto my other computer with the vlc streaming and it also resizes the stream etc....

The problem most likely is windows mobile 6.1 and the media player it uses. For instance I cannot access the "launch stream" button in mobile internet explorer as it does nothing. Opera mobile works great and I can access all of the features.

When I open the stream.asf file in media player it says "parameter is incorrect".

I would love to have low bandwidth real time streaming but I feel the problem is far more complex and deals with actual video file types etc....

the fact that there is no recent version of mobile vlc player but word is there are devolpments started again and will have a beta release in coming months Big Grin

When the pop-up comes up to open or save the stream file....save it and post the results here.

Hi!

Thanks so much for taking a look at this

I have included Four files.

Max Payne(2008)(Violence)(1.88 stars)_20090228_19002100 play.m3u - saved file form pressing play on the main files directory screen
stream vlc.vlc - vlc streaming save file
stream wmv.asx - saved file from wmv stream
download_stream.bat - saved file when selecting "Download" in the streams menu...

not sure why its a bat file but it is

The only one that works on my mobile phone is the play one the m3u file which streams the show

About Orb - I didn't bother to sign up as I thought it is more for an internet always service with their own on-site login and I am interested to use mine for LAN to save bills and wifi when out and about... I don't want to a;ways use my internet provider when using my LAN so I never bothered to install orb... could add up haha

Cheers

Just to confirm....all of these were saved from the mobile after you clicked "launch external player"?

Becasue.....these are all bad files....the first one is close but has a line break in it where there should be none.

The others are all like copies of what is in the page used to launch the player.

very strange indeed.

Hi!

Yes all the files were downloaded from my mobile phone using the Opera browser.

that is weird that opera is not rendering the files proper... hmm

Ok basically teookie was correct, with the current limitations of EWA then orb is the answer.

What I can now do from my Telecom NZ Touch mobile (same as HTC Vogue) I now connect to the GBPVR web GUI and select the TV show/recording/video I want to stream and start the stream.
Then I connect to the orb website and select an Entry I have called GBPVR which is a "webcam URL" in orb terminology. this connection spawns my mobile media player and I receive the stream from the PVR this works for TV as well as all GBPVR local content that can be streamed.

Its still not very slick, would be really good to have the orb capability actually available in EWA and not have to mess around with the ORB website, but hey it works and its not "Timy" all I do is set it to full screen and it filles the mobile screen in landscape very watchable but more than that very Geek credit worthy Big Grin

If we could get this better integrated this would be awesome, also the way this is currently working I suspect it will also work when I am behind my corporate firewall/proxy unlike the generic EWA capability.

I am hoping the silverlight stuff coming soon will make the issues with logging on and selecting some buttons from a mobile more usable....

Thanks

Thanks

Just a note to register interest in streaming to Windows Mobile. I would find this very useful. Some folk appear to have got this working with VLC using the parms listed at this link http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=49766. Would an option for Windows Mobile be an option in a future release of EWA ?
