So..getting back to my problem:
When the hard drive is connected, I can successfully get to the shared directory on the host GBPVR computer, I can successfully telnet to and from each unit (host computer and PCH-A110), but when I then attempt to initiate the command to take me to the GBPVR screen I get the message "Request cannot be processed"
When the hard drive is not connected, I am able to connect to GBPVR on the host computer.

If there is a guide (outside the WIKI here) or an automated install program, send me the link, because my searching for it has not shown it to exist.

The only explanation for this is the cache. Did you clear it as recommended?

Thanks Jaggy. My search for this yielded a number of unhelpful links.

Filemode pressed while PCH A110 was powered on, and while PCH A110 was directed to a number of different browser areas. No menu referring to the Cache, however when I was in the local hard drive, I saw three options, but none dealing with a cache.

Reinstall using the automated installer that Jaggy pointed me to has also yielded no joy. In fact, after discovering that the GB-PVR.html functions only yielded the "Request Cannot Be Processed" screen, I returned to the older telnet.html file and found that initiating telnet on port 23 in this way will no longer work. (perhaps this is anticipated with the new installer?).

I'll shut down the GBPVR computer for the night. Maybe there is something on this end preventing the union.

No telnet works with the new installer just fine.

I assume that this means that I don't need to open up a telnet port on 23 as outlined in the old WIKI install instructions.

NEXT:
Initially the setup with the installer did not appear to work. But I just turned off the PC TOols Firewall and bam. Now it works. Oddly I do remember attempting this before using the installer and met with negative results. Seems to work now. But I know that I set the firewall with the open ports mentioned in the wiki. I will have to look for other ports mentioned in the dummies guide.

Firewall problems once again. <sigh>

Telnet is not needed to run GBPVR and the NMT. There is no port 23 listening port but if you have very restrictive outbound rules and you do want to connect to the NMT you will need to open outbound port 23. Most firewalls do allow this as a standard service.

NMTInstaller does modify the Windows firewall to allow access, unfortunately people who use extra security will want to open PVRx2.exe for TCP and UDP and GBPVRRecordingService.exe for TCP
