Next day, I trust Smile

I downloaded every page of the Manual, so will get to work in earnest. Give me a few days.

Yours, S.

This thread gets me to thinking... It should be possible for either a 3rd party utility or PVRX2 itself to self-examine FilterCheck.txt and automatically build an entry in BDA.ini. This would mean that PVRX2 would effectively auto-detect new cards. It's been many years since I coded anything, but one day when I have time, I might look at making a utility to do this.

what was the fnal determintion as to could the AVerTVHD duet a188 to work with GBPVR? I'm in the same boat having bought this card from newegg thinking a "white box" version merely meant no manal or CD in box (like it means for 99.99% of other manufacturers). But AVer says the white box version can't run their media center TV software. Says the white box ver is ONLY for XP or Vist Media Center OS version or Win 7 beta. I am running Vista 64 Business so I need a pvr program that will recognize this card. Any help?

siliconaudio, I never got around to finishing that app (direct.ini support not added) but the thread on it is at http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=33957

The download link is in the first post and VS2005 C# source is included with it.

I'm glad sub remembered that I did that, I completely forgot about it.

It should work fine... as a general rule, any digital capture device with a standard BDA driver will work for ATSC tuning (OTA antenna), and many will work for QAM tuning (digital cable).

First, make sure you have the AVer driver installed and the device shows up in your device manager with no errors.

Then install the GB-PVR software, and before running Config the first time find the bda.ini file in the gb-pvr program directory and add the entries from sub's post #7 above (use a text editor like Notepad, not a word processor). Then when you create your Digital capture source, you select the card from the list. After that, configre your epg source, load it, and then do a channel scan and map the scanned channels to the epg channels.

Also, since you are running Vista Business I would suggest turning off UAC (User Account Control). It makes things simpler. Vista Business also does not have a proper MPEG-2 decoder or AC3 filter, so you will need to have those installed as well. You can get MPV decoder Filter at http://www.free-codecs.com, and AC3 filter at http://www.ac3filter.net
