is it acceptable to upgrade a client first, or could that foul up the server?

The order shouldnt matter too much, but you'll want to upgrade both.

No problem, for others that may experience the same problem you can run the install as follows:

msiexec.exe /i GBPVR10407.msi /l* installlog.txt

and it will give an install log file.

I did this and found it was stalling on removing the recording service so a quick:

sc delete "GB-PVR Recording Service"

and the upgrade then completed.

But (!) I then had several errors when config.exe opened and looking at the config.exe log file the upgrade.ddl SQL commands seemed to keep experiencing "database locked" errors (rebooting did not resolve this).

So, pressing on I manually ran the SQL commands using "SQLiteBrowser" and they seemed to execute ok (I checked that all the correct changes were made to the database).

config.exe now ran correctly but I then had problems with no video being present in recordings. A quick look at the recording service log file and I could see that PSI Parser could not be found, so I un-registered and re-registered it.

After all that, all seems ok!

In hindsite I guess it would probably have been better un-installing and starting from scratch but I couldn't face re-setting up channels / mdapi / vplug / etc!

Cheers for all the hard work on the new version!

Yes, absolutely. Thanks again to those that help out with the testing.
