Haven't actually tried it yet, but it free and trying doesn't hurt. Search "silencer" in the drivers database in toshiba's support site (using a newer model nr. as "filter" won't hurt )

It only applies the settings in "the current windows session". So when you reboot or come out of standby you have to manually click on the tray icon and set to silent mode again. Less than ideal for a HTPC solution.
