I see! There are different versions of DirectX. Still downloading.

There is something wrong with your codec installation, from the log:

2010-06-18 00:02:08.480 [DEBUG][1] FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: MainConcept (HCW) MPEG-2 Video Encoder
2010-06-18 00:02:08.519 [DEBUG][1] FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: MainConcept (HCW) Layer II Audio Encoder

Try reinstalling the codecs.

When you try starting live tv, does a file get created in D:\recorded tv\TempRec\, and does it grow?

Yes the file is created. It grows to 10,824 KB then stops growing. CPU remains high but disc activity ceases.
I have 30+ files from previous attempts at running LiveTV. They are of varing sizes up to 35,156 KB.♠

I have not reinstalled the codec. When I looked at my report of installed codec I found that there were a number of codec, including the above 2, which had missing details such as path and filename. I have disabled all of these codec, removed them from the decoder selection ♠and rerun LiveTV.
There was no progress beyond ...Please wait.... The file D:\recorded tv\TempRec\ was created and grew to 6545 KB.

I have attached logs.zip

i always find it better to do recordings rather than try and watch live tv
that way it separates the process
1 record the program rather than watching live tv (sorting out tuners epg etc)
2 play the file back (once you have a file you can sort out the decoders you need to play it back))

if recording/watching dvb-t in NZ you will need something like power dvd 8 not sure all versions of 7 have the required h264 decoder for the video and for audio look for monogram there may be others that work also

Thanks for your interest. For my TV watching I have been a user of WinTv v7 since it was first released last year. It has a good user interface and functionality but was unstable, at least for me. To get around the instability (and poor support) of 'live TV'. I too would resort to recording programmes. Then I would use PowerDVD9 for playback. But we prefer the immediacy of watching live and so here I am looking for a replacement system. I like the promise of NPVR and the help and time put in by sub and members.
If commercial skip lives up to my hopes I may yet return to record/playback.
