and i mean i've never been able to...do we have to have a logon there or something [cookie?]
it's like it gives up immediately even tho i have upped the timeout..

no cookies, files or logons required... It's a straight http download request

The latest version no longer has a timeout. (or at least one that can be adjusted by the user) The seriesid.txt is actually downloaded from epgtools.com

That server has given us very little grief, except for a situation earlier this year that was fixed rather quickly by Whurlston :-)

The new version will not automatically download a seriesid file... you havwe to manually click the 'download' from the main tab

i did a manual download...and immediately in the logs it says 'timed out' ...not even long enough for the timeout period...like it's giving up immediately..
Quote:10/17/2010 6:21:05 PM :1> ERROR during Download: 0 : : :: The operation has timed out
10/17/2010 6:21:05 PM :1> Loading Series list...
10/17/2010 6:21:11 PM :1> ERROR during Download: 0 : : :: The operation has timed out

10/17/2010 6:21:21 PM :1> Loading Series list...
not even long enough for my 20 sec timeout..
epgtools online check always says it's online, and theTVdb always says it's not...even tho it appears to be..

just tried from another machine, no problem...
hmmm...no firewall on my main pvr machine, no av, no restrictions at all...even has dmz designation...
anyways, since you don't update it that often, this last download should do the trick...

any ideas on the star-ratings customization?

It appears that when a XML file is downloaded that it display that the file has been download in the status bar for 5 seconds before continuing. This is nice to see but is it possible to reduce the time that it display before continuing?

If I fetch 240 xml files and it pause for 5 seconds each time that adds 20 minutes to the process.

Is there something that you can do to help speed this up?

I haven't looked yet. That's a part of the code that I hadn't looked at at all lately... we'll see tomorrow

It doesn't actually pause for five seconds... that the status text that lingers so you can read it. Ultra carries on during that moment

THe only real delay happens at the very beginning when Ultra checks for theTVDB.com... after that and subsequent download is really quite fast and there's not much of a delay... it downloads a xml, waits to be sure it's complete (a matter of a few milliseconds) and then goes on

It appears that I'm getting an error when trying to upload _SeriesID.txt at the end of the process. I'm guessing something has changed with with our corporate firewall (outside of my control).

I know I can unselect the "Auto Upload when done" option, but would it not be better to trap the error and exit/continue gracefully (possibly with a popup, if enabled)?

When looking through the log file I noticed that there was an error during download of a XML file. But when I look at the statics on the Main tab it shows that there were 0 failed fetches.

Should it not be showing the error downloading as an error?

Why is it showing multiple downloads for some shows such as Is It Possible?; Seducing Cindy; Cold Squad; when they seem to be the same XML file each time? Is this intended?

Here is some of the _app.log file showing the entries discussed...

Did that change in the beta version? When running the old version at home (over wonderfully slow rural dial up - remember me and all my porblems :eekSmile it seemed to have paused. I assumed it was paused because the counter in the bottom did not advance neither did any of the counters on the Main tab. After each download + 5 seconds these counters would start incrementing.

Another thing I noticed was that if there were several downloads in a row the fetches counter would increment but the counter at the bottom would not increment until there was a show that did not require a download. Once again this is more noticible on a slow dial up connection.

These observations were all with the previous version an not the new beta version. I have only run the new beta version once so far (highspeed connection) and did not notice any of these issues. I don't know if you adjusted anythign in this area or not but I guess I'll find out when I run the new version at home on the dail up connection.

Keep up the great work!
