I hadn't actually realised that this was not at least on a simple level built into NPVR. It was about to come to the top of 'my NPVR to-do' list, so good timing!

Remotes are great for navigation etc but for instance in GB-PVR I bundled 'TV Guide', 'TV Recordings', 'Search Guide' and 'LiveTV' all as sub menu items under top level menu item 'Television'. I may have missed something (as usual) but I know see that the same syntax used in GB-PVR for doing this will not work with NPVR. That for me would have to be a minimal option? Why not stick everything totally Television related in a sub section?

Cheers

I should have a basic enhancement to the built-in menu that supports sub menus ready in a day or so. I'll experiment with fancier options too but that'll take time.

Thanks Iain, that sounds superb, sub menu possibilities for now would be a great enhancement. Fancier options sound even more intriguing Big Grin

imilne that is good news. Since you asked why some of us don't like 7mc, I half lots of reasons primarily I feels icne NPVR is styled after Aeon what I really want is sub to support Aeon style sub-menus like XMBC http://xbmc.org/wp-content/gallery/aeon/...ubmenu.jpg and Meedios

Ooh, I like. Does the background art change with the selections?

To be honest, I'd hope getting something like that probably wouldn't be _too_ hard to accomplish with the way I've written it, although I'd need some help on the skin side of things. I've got the submenus working, but they just replace the main menu at the moment, rather than appear below it. They work to an infinite depth too, but that probably isn't really needed. I still need to suss out how to get them aligned properly when there's less than 5 elements, and then add support for the custom tasks, unless sub can suggest a way of running them via hooks back into his code? I've also enhanced it a bit by allowing you to override the (display) name of any plugin.

I also can use skinning help! What I'd want most is sub's support because I'd want plugins to be able to create the sub menu items and pass some parameter to the plugin when launched.

I'm not totally against submenues, but I hate horisontal menues! It feels like working in a keyhole, so would it be possible to choose to have the menu vertically and still use submenues?

I don't see why not, at least for a non-Aeon like implementation anyway.
