I didn't try but I will tonight. I don't really understand graphedit well and I don't know how to connect to a running graph in DirectX player or WMP, so I might need help from the avsforum graph guru vlad.

that looks suspiciously like a standard dvd spec file with 4000k bitrate...
[and hence be playable on almost anything, even lowly handheld processors can decode mpeg2]
pretty much same files as comes out of every capture card out there...Smile
[ps container,mpeg2 video, mp2 audio, nothing special]

will this allow metadata to be shown?
and we'd still need PlayOn to do hulu and netflix and such?

id love to use this with a skinned or customized upnp server that looks like npvr and serves up the metadata also for use with generic upnp players..

I used graphedit to insert the url and it connected a box with the url's single output to the mpc gabest mpeg splitter. After that it is routine audio, video and subtitles are sent to to ffdshow and output to vmr and default audio.

Is there any filter you want me to try?

It is based on servers that reply using DIDL-Lite http://www.upnp.org/schemas/av/didl-lite-v2.xsd so Universe can choose various items what to display, some art and long descriptions are in the PlayOn data. However using other UPnP servers should be possible, TVersity offers free YouTube, Flickr etc and they advertise Netflix Hulu BBCiplayer etc in their pro version.

In the other PlayOn related thread I started, I found mention of another package I hadn't heard of tubecore and these screenshots give an idea of what Universe can probably access http://tubecentric.tv/screenshots/

Martin,

This looks awesome... I hope PlayOn is paying you commission. I will sign-up and beta test this for you. Running Win7 and have 2 PCH A-110s.

Suggestion, can you make the Netflix capability compatable with one of the Netflix plugins so we have the best of all worlds -- thousands of movies with a useable GUI...

That said, I haven't tried PlayOn yet so I shouldn't judge...

Was this the graph that was generated when you chose the 'render url' menu option?

BTW, what did an example URL look like?

lol, Steeb, always on about what this thing is going to be named... you're right, I did at one point say it ought to be named NextPVR, or something with 'PVR'/'DVR' in the name, because at the core the program is basically a PVR, and 90% of sub's code is aimed at making it a good PVR. But I and almost everyone else here want to use it for more; thus you may also recall I advocated for the full name to be "NextPVR Mediacenter"... I suppose "NextPVR HomeTheater" would fit the bill too. I don't want to tangent this thread into another naming thread though.

Back on the subject at hand, while I have nothing technical to contribute, I must say this all seems quite exciting. PlayOn to do the heavy lifting, Martin's "Universe" to bring the content into NPVR, and some work from sub to play the video streams all adds up to a very integrated media experience. Here's to hoping no show-stopping gotcha's come up to spoil the broth. Cheers.
