sub Wrote:The UK does broadcast LCN numbers, and it'll usually use them. I know in some situations it can find the channel list before the LCN in the stream, so hasnt waited long enough to know channel numbers, which might be why you ended up with the incorrect numbers after the digital scan.

When importing channels from XML, it'll usually honour any channel numbers included in the file, but if you've already got channels with those numbers - all bets are off. You cant have two channels with the same number, so you'll need to either update them to other numbers not already in use, or merge them with the existings channels (hold ctrl, click both, right click, select merge). "merging" effectively makes them two sources of the same channel, and the app can use either when scheduling recording etc. (simply having the same name or number is not the same thing)

Thanks Sub,

I'm with you now.

1) Can anything be done regards the scan and finding the LCN Numbers or is that just 'the way it is'?

2) Gotcha regards the .xml, I knew about the merge but hadn't got that far yet, was just trying to sort all this out in my head first Big Grin

3) So out of interest, if I set up my analog source first, imported the .xml and it honoured the numbers as per the XMLTV data and THEN I set up a digital device and it got the LCN numbers on the scan, it would be the same in reversal of what I've done? i.e. it would not allocate the LCN numbers as identical channel numbers had already been taken by the analog device?

great stuff, loving NextPVR every time I have to do things like this it is just so much more user friendly than GB-PVR (don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with GB-PVR but very soon I will have to 'retire' it!)

cheers

It usually gets them fine - I think you were just unlucky. I get them probably 9 out of 10 scans. Its on my list to look at again though.

I dunno - I havnt tested it. Number clashes are a problem, and the user will probably have to fix it manually.

Would this also apply to the IR Blaster channel as it seemingly did for steeb in gbpvr days. If so, it would be worth my while spending some time to get these into the XML source to save a great deal of time if/when re-creating the analogue setup of npvr when testing or destroying the database.

Yes, at least in an empty database that doesnt already have channels with those channel numbers.

Superb, I'm about to delete/destroy/eradicate my database (having backed it up) and start over Big Grin

And for any UK users following this and using DigiGuide then importing into XMLTVGUI Alan Birtles has just fixed an issue with the channel ID's not importing correctly from Digiguide.

martin123, it bounced back @5MB so re-sent @2MB that came back. Most strange, tried a couple of non attached emails to see if they got through, let me know.

@ dear all,

so where have I gone wrong with this:

Stopped NPVR Service.
Deleted database
Started NPVR Service
Started NextPVR
Settings - Devices - PVR150 - Device Setup - Import

Now database totally clean and regenerated from Service Startup? Going into import for device it is still remembering my .xml location and channels i.e. not starting afresh. I know I should be deleting something else here...... I've probably even read about it and forgotten Big Grin

I know these are little things, I probably could have manually changed the channel numbers five times over by now instead of trying this Wink

cheers

It will remember your xml location (and show the list of channels it contains), but you can just browse to your new xmltv file. None of the channels will be stored into the database until you hit ok.

Thanks Sub,

well in that case I have to report that unless I'm doing something quite stupid (which is quite possible Wink ) NextPVR is not honoring the channel numbers in the way GB-PVR did (at least with my set up).

.xml file correct in settings, new db, no channels set up for any other devices. Import on analog, all looks normal, hit OK and channels start at number 1 again, through to 58, which is correct, there are 58 channels in my .xml. But not one of my channels has a single digit number or 2 digit, the first one is BBC1 which starts at number 101.

Channels.xml attached.

Any thoughts?

cheers
