I did consider doing something like that, but decided it was going be a bit ugly, and confuse too many people - I prefer to have a more minimal look, and keep things basic. Otherwise we'll be back to the complaints about needing to be a rocket scientist to configure GBPVR/NPVR. I'm happy loose a bit of configurability to help keep things simplier. Having GBPVR being really complicated to configure really hurt adoption. Sorry, I know that wouldnt be the answer some users would like, but I hope you understand the reasoning.

Could this be "hidden" in Config.xml and not visible in the UI?

@sub:

how about just a single setting then - <LiveTVPreferredTuner>; by default it would not be set so it would just use the top-down order. however if it is set the LiveTV would use that tuner if it can, otherwise obey the tuner order.

this way a user like imilne could put his speedy DVB-T tuner at the bottom of the list so it won't get used for recordings unless necessary, but set it as the <LiveTVPreferredTuner> so that it gets used for LiveTV whenever possible.

I fully appreciate Sub's response to keep things as simple as possible but also think it would be very handy to have this feature for us geeks who want to dig about. Is having an "advanced" option in the GUI too much work? Having hidden features in the config file is grand for us who happen to read the support thread and see the option mentioned, but there have been a few I've spotted in the past long after they've existed. But I'd rather have it hidden in the config than not exist.

We DO understand your reasoning, but you know that won't stop us trying to convince you otherwise Rolleyes

How about a simple "Invert device priority for LiveTV" checkbox in the misc options or something along those lines? It would gives us a clean way doing it (no "hidden" config.xml option).

But I agree with BigMoose, hidden option in config.xml, would be better than no option at all.

I've been following this thread with great interest. Though I totally see Sub's point re: ease of use/configurability, for my own set up not having some kind of option to set a preferred device for LiveTV really hampers the flexibility of my NextPVR system. I would vote for some kind of 'advanced' setting as has been mooted.

PLEASE Big Grin

cheers

This patch includes a 'Use Reverse Priority For Live TV' checkbox. Options like multiple lists were too ugly.

I don't fully understand the need for this, but hopefully multi-rec still override priority?

Many thanks for this sub. In my case, it is very appreciated.

Unfortunately though, I can't get it to work. The setting doesn't seem to stick (tick box, close settings, open again, and the box is unticked). I also couldn't see an obvious config.xml entry that it would be using, although I only gave the file a very quick skim.

Ah sorry, I forgot to mention you need to add <ReversePriorityForLiveTV>false</ReversePriorityForLiveTV> in config.xml, then the setting should stick correctly.
