Now if anyone could hack the MHEG 5 stream to get the "This channel returns at **:** Hrs" message. Jus like the £14 set top boxes Big Grin
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

Well, if sub can find a way of getting on-screen display stuff working without a video stream then something like what you suggest would be possible. Although there'd be no need for my timesharer plugin anymore, it could instead be used to display a graphic giving that sort of information. Although you'd have to specify details for every part-time channel and a pointer to a image to show.

And I'm not sure if plugins can do video overlays that are similar to the built in ones, that is, can you have a "popup" that wouldn't steal focus from the user continuing to channel flick up or down for instance?

As these Channels have allotted time slots perhaps a config or ini file to store the times + channel icon on screen with message would be the simplest way to accomplish this.

I have been experimenting with this problem, but no real success so far. The only way I can get OSD graphics to appear without video playing, is by stopping live tv and just showing the graphics on a screen with a black background (showing faux OSD graphics), but this is would make it really slow to surf through these off air channels, with the added time of stopping and restarting the device.

There is one other approach I did think of trying, but unfortunately I've run out of time for experimenting with this right now (get on plane tomorrow, and lots to do today).

Ok, thanks for looking into it though. I'll hold off on TimeSharer until you've ruled out all possibilities (although if anyone really wants it now just PM me).

Have a good flight!

Just reviving this thread to see if there's any update on this?

I really need to get moving on plugin development again, and finishing off/releasing TimeSharer is probably easier than any of the other stuff I was working on.

Sorry, no. I've been busy with other stuff.
