I wonder what the difference would be, for me as long as I select the mvpmc share on a boot up (so it is the last share loaded) from then on the index is loaded automatically ever time I press the power key on the remote, even if I stop it auto loading & then exit to the NMT menu once I select "home" in the NMT menu it will load the index again. This is exactly the same on the other three systems I help setup also

I'll look at this further.

I've now seen two different types of behaviour. The first is when I see a list of html files every time I resume the PCH from standby and have to select one manually. The second is when it does actually auto-start the last html I used...but as I'm tweaking things along the way I'm probably affecting the outcome in one way or another.

I'll try again tomorrow with what I've learned so far tonight.

Cheers,
Brian

One of the times I did see behavior similar to what you are seeing is when I had the name of the index wrong (Martin had made a spell'O when typing it out in a message) but after researching on the forums on the NMT site I found for them to be found automatically they have to be named "index.htm" & "index_sd.htm" notice they are not xxx.html. I also found it is best to have both the index & index_sd in the share (or "ROOT" directory if running from a USB stick)

Mine works as per Jaggy, by the time my LCD has farted around searching for inputs and switching resolution ...or whatever it does I virtually never see the NMT front end.

I have a compact flash card in my NMT, would running npvr of there rather than the share be quicker in and out?

I was confusing how your menus work. I thought you were saying that you could simply power on and it would load NPVR from the NMT menu without hitting any keys from standby.

Yep that's exactly what it does for me (& others), from an NMT cold or warm boot it just loads NextPVR without any user input.

Jaggy Wrote:, even if I stop it auto loading & then exit to the NMT menu once I select "home" in the NMT menu it will load the index again

This part was "an even when" or in other words as well as it auto loading without any input from the user "if I stop it auto loading by pressing enter" & exit to the NMT menu....etc. etc.

I just tried for 1/2 an hour and I need to use the home key after a power on from standby to get your menu.

Martin.

That's a confusing one, isn't it??..... Why wouldn't it be seeing the index file in the share are a power up from standby, but it must be seeing it if pressing the home key makes it run??

Weird.... I can't think of anything that could cause this (having thought the only difference I can think of between the way I have mine setup & you & bgowland have yours setup up is possibly that I don't have a password on my share?? But having thought that I can't see why that would cause it.... or could it??)

With a a compact flash or hard disk setup, you can use a custom index.html that loads even from a full power up. You can even take one of the customs skins http://www.networkedmediatank.com/wiki/index.php/Skins and add an icon specific to NextPVR

For non-PCH users who might think that slowness is a serious problem, this conversation is about saving a few second. From the standby power on NPVR on my machine to NPVR on screen is about five seconds and 3 remote keystrokes including the Power key (Power - Blue - 1) and most of that time in NPVR loading.
