Don't you hate people who drag up old threads!

Anyway I've finally had time to get my utility working for extending sporting events and stopping them early too. It's actually pretty cool, a baseball game and a college football game both needed over an hour added Saturday and it worked great. Also back-to-back recordings get extended well too.

Those both use parallelprocessing.bat so the logic is straight forward (or so it seems). It does get complicated when I need to initiate the utility after the epgupdate as it can only handle recurring events and I do think I have to concentrate solely on shows following Sunday games. If anyone who what to test to see if it works for Madame Secretary or The Good Wife after a regional game next Sunday let me know.

Also I'd be interested in hearing other options anyone would like or can think of let me know (ie don't cancel earlier recordings, change priority of the following show etc.)

Cool idea, I will watch this. The wife would like sports to not go over on her shows.

I can't control the start time when it goes long, but thinking about it, I might be able to fake a resume point on back to back so she would't notice as much.

My first round of testing tonight began as hoped. The football game (good ending too) went an hour long, and the three shows on two channels both got extended automatically plus my 5 minutes extra for that last commercial. All this with my Breaking Bad marathon happily chugging along. The Amazing Race began right away but CBS kept 60 minutes so we shall see.

I am pretty much done testing what I can here so if anyone wants to help test with college football or baseball tomorrow (especially shows after too) let me know. I'd like some feedback before unleashing it on the world.

Ok that's the trivial case where PostProcessing.bat should catch it. If you also want a test for Sunday record Burn Notice at midnight to see if it is extended.

No installer yet just extract the attached into the Program Files folder and then in ParallelProcessing.bat use this, if you are running 64 bit

Code:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR\NextEnd.exe" --oid %3

You can add the script anytime before 10. If you run anything else in parallel let me know

It will save a .stop file to C:\temp for now so you need to create the folder if it doesn't exit.
