I have no knowledge or experience with the way tv encryption works, but yes, I suspect that encryption adds significantly to channel changing delay.

sub would better be able to say whether your channel change time is expected for your configuration.

I was coming in today to report the same kind of problem.
On Hauppauge 2250 dual card I get 15-20 second delay on LiveTV channel change. If I hit another remote button while changing NPVR hangs up for a long
time and sometimes just stops cold (windows message about app not responding).
Applied all the patches in 2.2.6.

I was wondering about the decoders as well. Is there a prefered set, this card is supposed to have on-board hardware decoders but I don't see them
in the list. I've tried Microsoft and some others but no difference.

asside - bulk change in channel setup doesn't work on my machine, so I'm still getting the EPG and channel name setup done one at a time....

Ideas??

I think you may have another problem then I am, since you report hangups and windows messages (which I don't have now; have had though).
Do you have the problem when watching unencrypted channels?

Because Johnsonx42 and I suspect MY problem is due to encryption, I have been searching the forum and I am continuing about this problem in the post here:

I am having a slow channel change AND these messages in acamd monitor: "PMT not found..." and "ACamd_PMT.txt, search, not found PMT=0036 (AND SID=00D2)". If you've got them too, maybe you can watch posts in that thread.

The "PMT not found..." is not a serious error, it just means that Acamd will be reading keys from the smartcard instead of the cache.

That's good, but wouldn't channel change be faster if it would use the cache? It seems it is searching for something (read that it takes 2000ms for PMT, whatever it means) and can't find it.
And how should smartcard.config look?

When you use a cardserver with Acamd you don't use smartcard.conf, only cardclient.conf. My channel changes takes about 2 sec. I think that is quite normal.

My cardclient.config contains the following line without # in the beginning:
newcamd:127.0.0.1:15050:1/0604/ffff:gebruiker1:wachtwoord1: and then a code that is the same as in newcs.xml

Is that correct?

I would very much like to have a 2 seconds channel change. Can you help me with it?
When I watch acamdmonitor, I think there's so much going on, I must take too long.

Okay, I checked (should have done that sooner). When changing channels on the dvb-c card between nonencrypted channels, it takes about 2 seconds. When switching between encrypted channels, it takes 6,5s.
Does your 2 seconds apply for encrypted channels?

Two seconds is between unencrypted channels. The time depends wether npvr has to switch capture source, if so it can take 10-11 seconds to change channel, on the same capture source and encrypted channels it varies from 4 to 6-7 seconds.

Well, than I think it may be normal what I have.
I'll report further in the other thread about this.
