Vulcan would be closer, regular expressions (on which that command is based) are extremely "logical" once you understand them. They do seem to be everywhere in linux scripts.

Hi Martin,

I need some more advice please, on trimming text from an epg. Unfotunately, TVxB only has room for 100 substitutions and I'm finding I have to add and amend my title right and left clip on an almost daily basis. It's so sensitive to what is being clipped I am missing shows.

What is happening is that the English characters in the Chinese Text are left, so I often get [], and ( and things like that. So I had the bright idea to try and remove these using some more of your vulcan language, only I need to understand how to translate Vulcan to plain English, so I can add to those as I go.

So what I am after is pretty simple really, I want to call a line in the batch to which I can add a comma delimited list of things like [],(,,(:, etc etc.

Can I ask your help as how I go about this ?

This Vulcan dictionary is explained if you search something called "regular expression" often shortened to regex

For now maybe just strip the brackets altogether.

"s/[\x00-\x1F\x7F-\xFF]()//g;s/> */>/g"

Eventually this will get too complicated with too many dependencies for one line. Probably best to consider yourself on your own now.
