Do you keep your files on a share or USB drive? HD HTTP streaming to the PCH does take a fast drive and wired network because it doesn't cache a lot. There is a command line option to increase this for h264 files but it can't overcome violent stutter issues.

You don't use the NMT key logic with ts or ps files you are using the standard NextPVR remote options Here's an old link that shows how they were used in GBPVR http://mvpmc.epgtools.com/nmtkeys.html It's still mostly correct.

I may be worth having a look at this link to the wiki http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?n=Client.NMT at some stage as you appear (at least to me) to have done everything the hard way.... there are also some advanced options etc. available.... but there is nothing there about stuttering playback on the NMT as it isn't something I remember being a problem to many users in the past.

I have now tried various H264 encoded recordings from the BBC ITV and C4 recorded from my DVB S2 and DVB T2 cards transmitted via a wired connection to the Popcorn, they all exhibit the same picture problem of breakup, pixallation..

I am wondering if this could be a problem with the Windows 7 codec as my machine is not short of resources.

Can you please let me know what is the recommended codec settings within NPVR or perhaps the codec setting is outside the program.

Thanks

The decoder settings in NPVR only apply to playback on a PC. When you playback on your Popcorn Hour, it's using it's own built in decoders.

If you can make a 100MB chunk of one of these files available that demonstrates the problem, I will check it out.

I got the file and it does have a couple of stuttery areas especially at the end over the women explaining the print. It might be the PCH, since it is patchy decoding more than I will do some more checking. One thing I did note was that at that patchy point there is an extreme call for band width, that spike at the end in both samples is more than the first gen NMT can handle.

Thanks Martin

Please do not waste too much time over this issue.

Perhaps I should replace the Popcorn A110 with a WDTV live box for replaying Freeview HD recordings ,as the new Popcorns are overpriced in the UK.

The same recordings stream perfectly to our bedroom 1080P Smart TV using Serviio ,but unfortunately our 4 yr old livingroom 1080P TV is dumb.

Regards

I forgot to check earlier but this seem like it is the problem with the BBC HD broadcasts sometimes being in 1080p. It shows as

Code:
Video
Format                                   : AVC
Format/Info                              : Advanced Video Codec
Format profile                           : High@L4.0
Format settings, CABAC                   : Yes
Format settings, ReFrames                : 4 frames
Format settings, GOP                     : M=8, N=24
Width                                    : 1 440 pixels
Height                                   : 1 080 pixels
Display aspect ratio                     : 16:9
Frame rate                               : 25.000 fps
Color space                              : YUV
Chroma subsampling                       : 4:2:0
Bit depth                                : 8 bits
[b]Scan type                                : Progressive[/b]

I transcoded it to 720p and 1080i with ffmpeg and both of these do play ok, so I suspect you need something other than a first gen NMT .

Sorry I don't know how the WDTV will work for you, my Boxee Box doesn't play it. Many places I can get it from locally have a liberal return policy hopefully you will be as lucky. Also check the avsforums for others in the UK.

Alternatively if you are happy with you newer Smart TV maybe they make a cheap BluRay player and since these have use the same software.
