I'd create an "EPG" folder in the NPVR data folder and put the mc2xml executable there.
Then "UpdateEPG.bat" in your scripts folder with the correct path to mc2xml.exe

I've never used rapidshare, but I think I got it. Here's the link to the files.

Jakesty Wrote:When I try to update the channels I often get the below error messages. I right clicked on a watched channel and chose SET CHANNEL EPG SOURCE. Generally closing NPVR and reopening and I'm able to continue to edit channels but not while watching live recordings, right click the desktop, settings, channels and choose the channel to edit will then work. If I just go right to editing without watching first, it's fine.
Does it ever give you this error when you instead go to the Settings->Channels screen and view the details of a channel? I dont have the same devices or channels as you so cant view live tv with your database, so I've been trying to reproduce the problem in the Settings->Channels screen, but it seems ok there for me. These two places share the same code, so they should behave the same.

It does. If I view a recording first. If I open NPVR and go right to editing channels from the SETTINGS screen, I'm generally ok and don't get that error.

Give this patch a go. Hopefully it'll help.

I tested it, sure did fix the problem. Not only did it fix that problem, but the EPG station resolution is substantially faster, from the time I'd select XMLTV to the time the list would be available, it's maybe a second instead of previously 10 seconds. Thanks for your help.

Great. Your 160MB xmltv file was massive. One of the biggest I've ever seen, and it was slow and consumed a lot of memory to load an xml file of this size, so I changed the way it did it. The new way is much more effecient.

I have been following Jakesty here and I have a massive comcast cable card xmltv file as well. Properties gives me 151MB. I guess I should give the patch a try as well?

Yep, it should help with any time you need to change the EPG source. It wont make too much difference of to the actual processing of the xmltv file at EPG update time, since that already uses an effecient method for processing the xml. (the epg selection screen was changed to use the same mechanism as the epg update)

With this patch installed - as soon as I try to enter the recordings screen from the Main - Menu NPVR throws an exception and will not open recordings menu. Am I missing a dependency?
I have reverted to the 26/03/12 version and all works again.

Logs and exception text attached
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh
