Thanks Martin,

can I grind down to basics then?

The test TV monitor has the capability of HD. Are we talking i or p?

If I was not running this up in SD but in HD would it make a difference?

There is much confusion here, clarification needed...

cheers

First setup the NMT for the screen resolution and connection type you'd like, and then configure config.xml to match. I just linked to the SD res. for both PAL and NTSC for all HD (720p, 1080i, 1080p) try http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post435665

Thanks Martin, will check this when I have the chance. And this will cure the black/blank screen on loading as per my thread when I tweak enough?

Here is the reason for me taking so long to get around to this stuff!

I get about an 8 second delay also on my new(ish) TV which is longer than it used to be on the old 33" CRT (about 4 seconds) & I have always put it down to the NMT waiting for the TV to return something (it takes a while before the TV displays a 1080i box??) before it continues loading??

Hiya Jaggy, well this is what I am talking about? The MVP gave constant visual feedback when loading mvpmc dongle. The NMT does not? To make it WAF it needs something? What is this delay? What do you get on screen?

cheers

I have no idea, but this TV has always been slow to display anything right from when we got it
turn it on..Blank screen, wait the it displays the resolution box, then another delay & it displays the picture

For the NMT blank....res box....blank.....NextPVR MainMenu (about 8 seconds_

I don't get the full 8 seconds as blank because in the middle it displays the res box....

From "my conclusion" what I have observed (& Martin knows a hell of a lot more about this than I do) I can't see any way for it to display anything as it appears the TV isn't ready to receive anything while it's in the blank state????

Ok, I will do it again.

On my machine I did many test and this was a long one, there would be an opportunity for me to display ~1.5 seconds of message like I did in MVP before it would disappear

Code:
2012-06-05 19:20:54.884    [DEBUG][4]    Received MVP Service Locator request <- NMT connects
2012-06-05 19:20:56.459    [INFO][3]    Got control connection <- when I have to clear the GUI stream
2012-06-05 19:20:56.518    [INFO][7]    Got streaming connection  <- fully connect
2012-06-05 19:20:56.911    [DEBUG][3]    This device is a PCH client...

steeb's connection 7 seconds of which less than half of a second is in the control by mvpmcx2 I obviously can't display any message during the HDMI handshake before this.

Code:
2012-06-05 23:16:17.750    [DEBUG][4]    Received MVP Service Locator request  <- NMT connected.
2012-06-05 23:16:18.015    [INFO][3]    Got control connection <- when I would have to clear GUI the screen
2012-06-05 23:16:18.078    [INFO][7]    Got streaming connection <- when it it fully connected
2012-06-05 23:16:24.046    [DEBUG][3]    This device is a PCH client...  <- I can't explain this large gap.

After that it is all overhead of the NextPVR startup and it will vary based on the plugins, sub could paint a screen before initializing the plugins I suppose, some like MB4 do take a few seconds.

AFAIAA as long as a TV is being sent a signal it will display it? There is no signal being sent from between the load screen and then NextPVR UI screen?

Of course Martin is the guru here. I am not thinking that 8 seconds is a long time to load. It is brilliant. But 8 seconds of NADA on screen with no user feedback is unsure!?

cheers
