My Oval Elephant (uhost) android mini-pc device turned up today. (http://www.ovalelephant.com/p-2062-mini-...b-ddr3-ram)

I have been having a play..

It has ICS v4.0.4 with the 3.0.8 kernel so it is running all the Android apps like Angry Birds/MX Player/TuneIn radio/BBC Iplayer/youtube etc etc.

it is playing all my video files nicely

I also have rigged it up over my wireless network to my NPVR server via Brian's NDroid app and this is working great - viewing live TV, recordings, triggering new recordings etc.

I am ordering another 3 for the rest of the TV's in my house Smile They are replacing my egreat NMT player and ION pc's which are going on ebay.

so far so good.. I have the Droidmote remote control software running on mine which means I can remote control it via my android tablets or phone as if it is a tablet screen.. Smile

The XBMC community is now porting XBMC across to Android and they are using the A10 as a dev platform. First prototype is now running.

Actually XBMC for Android on the Pivos XS is already being highlighted http://xbmc.org/theuni/2012/07/13/xbmc-for-android/ It is not Mali based.

I was talking about XBMC on the Pivos who paid developers to writ the open sourced Android XBMC The A10 with the Mali is a nice platform but isn't all good since there is no source for the VPU or the framebuffer yet so are limited what core Android will do for video playback. I don't think there is an NDK either.

Here's a writeup of that XBMC for Android APK on the Mele A1000 http://www.cnx-software.com/2012/07/14/x...000-video/ Definitely work in progress, but you need to stick with core Android with h/w acceleration for now.

xbmc on android has a long way to go yet. on android devices, so many variants and capability differences with ever changing hardware and firmware driver differences to take account of. But this recent porting work shows great potential. When they sort out the open source aspect of mali 400 then this will really open up the road to linux etc. Those mele boxes are not without their issues either.

for now, i am happy to use my combo of oval elephant, ics 404, Ndroid, bubblepnp and mx video player along with all that is available on the google marketplace/play hooked up to my whs2011 server running twonky and npvr/ndroid service. All running in under 5 watts of power.

I think that post is about a coming Raspberry Pi announcement (look at the picture of "Framboise"). I am still optimistic about the A10 platfrom although things aren't as bright for Mail if you read the developer (gimli and davezilla) posts near the end of this thread. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=126995

A lot of of campaigning by the XBMC community has caused the Allwinner to provide promising news to the community http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1152254 If the CedarVPU can be controlled is could be very good as a NextPVR clients. I've got the Pivos XIOS right now and it too hs promise but not as powerful as the A10

Did you get the flying mouse controller with it?
If so how is it to use?
