From your filtercheck log, it does look like it is soft encode. Post your logs again after attemting to view live tv (from the menu or the tv guide).

On the Settings->Decoders page, I'd try selecting an MPEG2 decoder other ffmpeg. I'd also set the audio renderer back to default.

As you're running Windows 7, the Microsoft DVD-DTV decoders should work for your video and audio needs.

making a translation file is pretty easy, and would be welcomed by nuestros amigos que hablan español.

Just start with c:\users\public\npvr\languages\Czech.xml, replace the Czech strings with Spanish strings, and name the file Spanish.xml or español.xml as you see fit.

also, when I was using soft-encoded analog, I found the default bitrate settings to be a bit low. you can increase the quality (and of course the recorded file size) by changing the settings in config.xml. here are the settings I use:
Code:
<Analog>
    <Bitrate>6000000</Bitrate>
    <BitratePeak>9000000</BitratePeak>
    <BitrateMode>VBR</BitrateMode>
    <FieldOrder>default</FieldOrder>
  </Analog>

With those settings I really couldn't tell much difference between my digital and analog channels. (though I admit I didn't expirement with in-between settings like 4500000/7000000... my settings may well be overkill)

Man-Rec means Manual Record. This is where you type in the start and end recording times instead of selecting an item from the EPG.
