OK thanks for your time..... re-tagging coming up for me I guess... bugger......

but I'm also fairly sure I have seen some of the automatic tagging (maybe even ms mediaplayer) putting in the actual track dates & not the album date.

I am not saying MB4 is doing it correctly, but it doesn't have a better way for album year sorting. I will give you an option to turn this sort off.

MB4 is not doing it incorrectly either - since the id3v2.3 standard doesn't allow for storing the original date of each track as well as the publish date for the album, it's a matter of personal choice how folks use the Year (TYER) tag...

So an option would be the best solution...

What I was proposing was leaving the ID3v1 Year tag as the album year for MB4 and then have TYER to be track year for SSP

lol - I thought I knew what was being proposed too... I thought Martin was proposing an option to ignore the year when querying the Album column and so list it in alpha order...
