What speed setting were you using? I only use fast, Not to many cards support the Super setting, also there are some things you can add to the config files to make the SD r/w more stable.

add this to config.txt:
init_emmc_clock=100000000

append this to the first line of cmdline.txt:
sdhci-bcm2708.emmc_clock_freq=100000000

That should help some. BTW did your screen resolution work correctly at 1080p? mine was messed up by this build. (Way overscanned)

I am running the latest nightly (did a fresh Raspbmc install and installed nightly 14/10) and have not noticed any problem. However, all my ts files (live TV and recordings) are displayed in SD format, with black vertical bars but in NPVR they are displayed in full screen. Resolution on the files are 720x576. Is there any setting I need to do?

I found out this morning from Element14 that the Pi shipped on Friday from the UK. Should see it within the next week.

The enclosure I ordered with it has arrived (from Australia).

You might try playing with: Settings>video>playback>display 4:3 videos as (Normal/Stretch 16:9/Zoom/Zoom Wide)
as well as allow errors in aspect setting just above that.

I suppose that will mean you get a V2 Board :-)

cheers i'll give that a go. i was just using the default which I believe was "super"

my screen resolution is fine, however it doesnt look as shape/clear as the older builds. just assumed that was the feature where the gui was at a different resolution to playing video. read somewhere they were trying to get gui at 720p but keep video at 1080p so help with slower cpus.

Yes Super is the fastest setting and will not work on all pi's. From hanging around on the IRC channel I was hearing the 720p/1080p split was negligible.

after reflashing my setting was 'normal', so not sure why previously it was 'Super' (I didn't change it). ive now changed it to 'Fast'.

performance for xbmc in general seems a lot better, at lot more stable when running 20121014.

npvr addon comes with that release, so thats really easy to setup (dont have to worry about pvr api version).

performance for npvr seems roughly the same (I know not much development has gone into it in the last week or so due to merging with main xbmc source). So still same issues with slow loading of channel groups, tv takes about 10 seconds to start, no hd channels. But sd tv is really good, and love being back here (gbpvr was always my favourite per).

i think timeshift is in 20121014 for the pvr backends that support it, the OSD now has the pause button (just disabled with npvr).
