The values in Settings --> Decoders apply to recordings made by NextPVR only. Using NextPVR to play any other file through Videos causes NextPVR to hand over to Windows Media Player to play the video and WMP makes its own decisions about decoders.

Simply stated, NextPVR records TV by copying the broadcast stream to a file. The encoding in the recording file is whatever the broadcaster chose. My understanding is that US broadcasts are AC3 and I have seen it suggested that you set a decoder for MPEG1 audio also. AC3filter should work for AC3 and for MPEG1.

LAV audio decoder should be OK, but I have not personal experience with it. I know AC3 Filter works. AFAIK, all high definition over the air TV in the US is AC3; MPEG1 is the audio format for US analog TV. This doesn't exist any more, but I don't know if any of the sub channels that are in Standard Definition use MPEG1 audio. What tuner are you using, and what is the source? Antenna?

I am using the SiliconDust HDHomeRun EXTEND for Over The Air antenna broadcasts.

I'm at work now, so I'll look into this when I get home.

The EXTEND tuner changes things. It might be delivering an h.264 stream so you will need an h.264 decoder. I think the Microsoft decoder will work, but I'm not sure as I have no experience. I have no idea what the audio format would be. There are folks here with the EXTEND tuner who can perhaps help. Do you have the Silicondust apps installed, the firewall open for nrecord.exe, npvr.exe etc.?

I've reached the limit of my knowledge. However, as noted before, you should definitely start a new thread in the NPVR Support forum and include the information requested in the sticky. Since this is buried in the Kodi forum, the right people may not see it.
