Have you tried File Splitter? I think it works on TS files.

Thanks for all the quick replies everyone! I did not mention it, but I am in the US and getting my HD TV via antenna and using the HD Homerun box in my home network... so far a very pleasing solution and a much better alternative to Tivo, which I had previously. Also, I did try the suggestion about converting WTV to DVR-MS and then using Freemake, but I could never get a high quality conversion... the results were always jittery, and I tried many formats and settings. I'm thinking about trying MCE Buddy since it appears to do conversions on the fly, but I might also try NextPVR if it can produce Mpeg2 files that my editing program can handle. Oh, and I'm not just interested in editing out commercials... I want to edit certain sections of programs to archive, like my favorite sketches on Saturday Night Live.

Hi. For MPEG-2 i am using Womble. It is small and easy to use software. It can cut MPEG-2 without recompresion.

Sorry to resurrect an uber-old thread, but I can't find a simple answer for something. What if I want NextPVR to record in a compressed (H.264) file format to save space.....like MKV, MP4 etc. I don't mind the potentially inferior compressed file format but I tend to packrat stuff for a long time so space matters. Also, if there is a solution to this does it work with comskip and other options like that? I haven't used any yet, but I am experimenting with multiple DVR programs (Plex, NextPVR, SiliconDust, etc) to find one that can do the most the easiest. Thanks!

Using this thread makes no sense to me, it costs nothing to open a new appropriate thread. It already is messed up enough. Martin

I found this one while searching for my question and thought it was related enough and included people who were also interested.
