I see this

2013-03-18 18:54:23.201 [INFO][15] VLC Path= C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC

If you add a trailing backslash in the configuration does it help?

Hi Martin

I have set up a new box based on Win7 x64 and I have installed only the required minimum software to try and get to the bottom of this issue and understand it more. I am running everything on this box.

I have installed HDHomerun, NextPVR 2.6.2, XBMC 12.1, the NextPVR Add-on and your X-NEWA 1.4.8 program.

I am still getting delays when viewing live TV. It starts for a second, freezes and after about 10-15 sec starts again. I also tried timeshift. Seems a bit better but I get buffering delays on that too.

Attached is my XBMC.log file. Can you have a quick look and let me know if you need anything else. I am really trying here and if you want me to add/remove anything, I am willing. This is a pure Sandbox at this point.

Many Thanks

Rob

The logs look like xbmc is trying to play the stream

1) in try direct mode nothing gets delivered quickly for channel 657 and it doesn't play. for channel 10 a longer delay for data but no success
2) in timeshifting mode it looked like the player hadn't finished your previous play. For timeshifting to work best you need to share your live tv folder
3) vlc tests failed because vlc was not setup properly but you had the arbitrary prebuffer delayartin

I'd need web.log and nrecord.log to see what is happening here.

I did a test of the following;
Watch channel 657 live using Native streaming in X-NEWA

The result;
After a delay of about a second it started to play the channel for a second, froze for about 15 seconds and then took me back to the TV Guide in X-NEWA.

I have attached all three logs.

Cheers

Unfortunately xbmc doesn't like something about the way live tv is streaming via http, x-newa is setting things up to best of its ability. Your only choice in x-newa looks to be timeshifting mode. Sorry I can't be more helpful but I appreciate you quick response with logs.

Thanks for the assist anyway, Martin. I think you have a good looking add-on here.

Question: It seems to behave if I set Streaming Format to Direct. Is there any impact to this? Does this help you narrow down the problem for you? One thing this recent test has done is confirmed the issue was not in WHS 2011 as it misbehaved in Win7 too. So I will probably build my WHS2011 system shortly with NextPVR, XBMC etc.

Best Regards

Rob

no the last set of logs were recorded using Native as the Streaming Format. Is that an 'A ha!' moment? Smile

No more a ???? moment. Direct and Native modes do the same thing for live tv (I was just confused in my reply ) it was designed to use alternate urls for playback of recording. http streaming of Live TV has to be done using the 8866 web server.

Sorry, now I'm confused. Can you confirm what Streaming Format you recommend for Live TV via X-NEWA? I can test more if you like. FYI, Live TV works fine via the NextPVR add-in or using X-NEWA with Streaming Format = Direct. Also recording via the X-NEWA is behaving too.
