Sorry, I was just talking about general NPVR bluray playback there, rather than the plugin. I've been following Lau Pan's guide for subtitles outside of the plugin (and with MKV files) and have them working well now, although I haven't tested any real discs yet. I haven't tried the updated version of your plugin yet, but hopefully things won't clash.

I've successfully created filter to replace dslibbluray's custom EVR mixer (who says you can't write directshow filters completely in C#?). This allows me to get the OSD working and will also allow me to use additional renderers (VMR9, MadVR, etc) in the future.

Sorry to bring up subtitles yet again (Big Grin)... but I was experimenting with Handbraking a select few 1080p rips down to 720p and noticed their subtitles are no longer displaying. I'm just using xyvsfilter/lav directly, not whurlston's plugin.

From reading around it seems this might be because the subs are stored with display coordinates for 1920x1080 and if they don't get tweaked for a new position within the 1280x720 window then they'll just appear off screen.

The subs are definitely in the file and MediaPlayer Classic is still displaying them ok. I've played around with a few options in DirectVobSub (forced auto-loading version) but had no luck.

Worst case I'll just OCR them and stick them back in the file as an SRT track (or use NPVR's filename.default.srt option) but it would be nice to crack the problem properly.

I'm fairly sure the pgs subtitles are based on 1920x1080 png images - on some blurays they come out of from peoples mouths, anywhere on the screen.

I think MPC-HC re-sizes them on the fly - For compatibility with other players you could use BDSup2Sub to make a re-sized subtitle stream, I think it will save as sup as well as other formats.

Usually I use Subrip to convert to srt followed by hours of spell checking and converting from non native English - or USA English - to UK English.

At the moment I am struggling with one that I think was translated by a 13 year old Chinese Computer Geek (It is a Chinese film) - "He has the crystal that was used to patch Heaven"
Or maybe the whole Film was done by Google Translate

Yeah, that's pretty much what I did in the past before your tips got me up and running with proper subs, but up until now I've just been using the original rips at full resolution. I won't compromise on quality for my movies but for TV shows that'll never get watched again for ten years (by which time they'll all be at 8K anyway Rolleyes) I don't mind taking them down to 720p to save a bit of disk space.

Thanks for the resize hints though - I'll definitely try that first.

Hi Whurlston

Did you ever post the update you were going to post "tomorrow"?
Played a Blu-Ray folder made with speed menu, from Videos last night. It worked fine, but the monitor kept going to sleep. Don't know if this is a Blu-Ray Player or Videos problem (not keeping pc awake)

Also I see that Java 7 is going out of support next month - would be nice to be able to use Java 8 for security reasons.

Hi Whurlston

Are you still developing the Bluray Player or have you been to busy - moved on to better things.

I've been using the initial release intermittently - not that many blu-ray disks - since you released it last year.

I see there is a much improved dslibbluray available that also requires JRE 8 available http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=...ost1716328

I suppose this wouldn't work "straight out the box" with your plugin?

My update software wants me to upgrade Java to 8 - I must obey Big Grin

And the Menu link (that you promised tomorrow) would be handy as well
