Ok, I'll take you word for it. Over the weekend I installed on a Win10 machine that required the DX runtime, and that's the link I installed from. It worked fine on that one.

It usually does, and should. I've never personally seen it fail, but users claimed it did (perhaps they actually had other issues, and they did other things in combination with installing the full DX runtime download, and then believed the full download was what fixed it). In either case, it's clear our new friend went off and found some other download in order to get the failure he got. I installed the full download on my own win10 machine this morning just to be sure.

Yes, it still shows this message if it's not present.

The UI is a bit more responsive with the Direct X runtime installed, and you get subtle animations in the few places.

Long time. But finally giving up on my XP box, got a new i5 with Win 10. The link above, as well as in the sticky, takes me to the Win 10 upgrade installation site, but already running Win 10. Is there somewhere else I should get the runtime?

I have no idea why the other link re-directs to the windows 10 download; even searching download.microsoft.com for "directx end-user runtime" yields the same link which redirects to the windows 10 download site.

Might it be an idea to update this sticky to reflect the additional functionality within NPVR for bundling up the logs

Open NextPVR > right click (anywhere) > Select Settings > click "Zip my log files for me and show me where the zip file is"

added a link to the sticky for the latest updated NextPVR.exe since it contains a few tweaks and fixes. Yes, I am aware that the one I linked isn't truly the latest one sub has posted, but it's the latest one that has confirmed working changes in it. Yes, i am also aware that there've been some changes in some other files, but those are very limited in scope for fixing specific users' specific problems.
